With this forum having multiple threads with the same damn topic, I'm sure they'll get the message.
[super inactive on this Forum LOL]

The gear and the weapons have random stats on them. Most of the time these stats aren't great. If you hate it so much, then please unsub. Stormblood is in a few shorts months, so then all of your Alex gear will be glamour anyways. Please, just stop all of the crying. Let's be adults here.
It's pretty awful game design unless an alternative is offered ASAP, such as a 280 Anima weapon and/or the ability to upgrade the Alexandrian one. It undermines hard work and saying "it doesn't matter" isn't an argument. We progress in this game knowing that it'll soon be replaced, but there's some level of predictability there. We KNOW when our gear will become relevant. This just came out of nowhere and obsoletes everything that came prior, with a ridiculously arbitrary method of acquisition that you have no means of guaranteeing any result on.
If anything, being random with low odds and RNG stats makes it even worse, because then only the luckiest people will get to join the super-awesome-best-weapons-club. If you actually had to earn them and not just get lucky, it'd be fine, if not a bit odd. But as of now, it's just awful.
It actually does make me consider unsubbing, because of how blatant it is that whoever designed this BS didn't learn from their mistakes last time. It makes me concerned with the future of the game and whether or not our hard work will ever reliably remain relevant.
So, by your attitude here, it'd be perfectly okay if I hired you to do a job, gave you a pretty heavy and lengthy workload and pay you decently, but then pay the guy that's late a lot and barely does half the work you do more, right? The gear and the weapons have random stats on them. Most of the time these stats aren't great. If you hate it so much, then please unsub. Stormblood is in a few shorts months, so then all of your Alex gear will be glamour anyways. Please, just stop all of the crying. Let's be adults here.
Rhetoric aside, someone brought up a very real concern: Lethargy. Players are getting tired of grinding out gear (and as a side note: Heavensward only complicated that by forcing people to complete normal raids and lengthening the time it takes to even get a tome weapon from 3 weeks at minimum to 7 weeks, as well as the added materia grind for gear melding now too), only to have to simply restart the climb once more after 3 months or so. Of course, the answer isn't as simple as horizontal progression, though that - if done right - would likely be welcome. But NOW, the fear of immediate and sudden obsoletion of hard earned gear through lesser/lower effort means or RNG has taken root, and I for one hope that it's a fear quickly put down.
No one wants to feel like 6 months of raiding was less than layers of RNG.
No one wants to feel like 2 years of dedication to a long, varied grind are easily overstepped by a lucky drop.
RNG itself is not a challenge, nor a valid replacement for challenge.
And if it's necessary to place a high end item behind layers of RNG simply to bait people into "improved" content, the biggest problem may perhaps be the content itself, and would require further improvement.

I don't really care if I ever get an i280 weapon or not, but simply the fact that they exist for the 'lucky few' is a massive slap in the face to anyone who put the effort into getting the Anima / Raid weapons. The timing is also terrible, with most other high-end content still under weekly lockout, speed-run groups still doing content before Echo nerfs, and the Gobdip (i260 -> i270) not even widely available yet.
I understand the Devs desire to get people to do the Diadem (they've waste enough resources on it :/) and offer 'good rewards', but there are lots of ways they could have done that including making the Diadem a great place to progress Anima weapons. Lockboxes / Gathering nodes could have dropped Anima mats, FATES could have given extra Light etc.
Yoshi-P gave a big apology for Diadem not making into in 3.55a... I look forward to the bigger apology now that it has been released.
As a raider who took the time to learn and beat A12S and obtain server 1st this was just honestly the biggest F**k you SE could've given the community, especially to the raid community.
We all understand gear will become irrelevant with the upcoming patch no one is denying that fact so please stop using it as a point to defend the issue here.
The fact that SE just promotes and encourage sheer laziness and rewards it is honestly what annoys me the most as well as many others.
The quote "charity patch" of hey lets run around and grind hunt mobs other people are actually looking for while we sit in a linkshell waiting for it to be announced coat/twine farm is a perfect example.
Why should I even bother raiding? You will just hand out a full set of 270 gear for doing absolute bare minimum to obtain it? Now you're going to give the best possible weapon for essentiallg just mindlessly grinding fates?
Get your head out of your backside SE!
I think they made them i280 weapons so anybody would possibly care at all. It would probably have worked at i275, but I guess they figured that as a special treat if RNGesus happened to smile upon you that day you could get a perfect weapon. As it stands it would be absurd to assume you'll get a weapon at all from a particular diadem run, let alone a specific weapon you want, never mind a weapon that you want with decent stat distribution (seriously abandon the idea of perfect stats). I haven't done a ton of diadem, but I think the rewards are fair compared to other content. You can probably expect a piece of usable equipment every 5-10 runs and a good weapon for the job you want approximately every 5-10 weeks.

Don't fret, everyone! I have it on good authority that when 4.0 hits, you'll be able to buy i300 weapons from the first weapon dealer you see. ^^
On a more serious note, I see this content suffering a tragic death long before 4.0 hits.

I can understand some players are upset about a iLV 280 weapon dropping but its basically a needle in a haystack. You're best off just running a12 savage or do your relic
I'd rather someone buy a A12S clear and buy their i275 weapon rather than getting a better i280 weapon MERELY FROM LUCK. Who cares if gear becomes irrelevant in weeks/months in this game? It's still a bad decision on the development team. This issue, along with others related to Diadem is a bit worrying as a player to question where they are going with things in 4.0
