Why 280 weapons?

A weapon hardly anyone is going to get has zero effect on anyone's effort to grind out a12 or their relic, that's like saying my efforts for grinding mgp are worthless because catpot exists. if you want the best weapon you can get get your relic or do a12 the time you spend trying to grind for the 280 is pretty much wasted given that you'll be able to buy a better weapon for 20k in 3 months.

Why are you all complaining. I have not been able to finish a boss special yet with a group for a chance at the 280 weapon lol. Most people are clueless right now or skill-less and unable to complete them. Also, out of the 8 pieces of 265 class gear I have won, 1 belt had better (marginally) than what I already have. I call it welfare gear, common in MMOs that want to shut the non-geared up a while. it has huge useless stats like Vit and low valuable ones like crit SS, etc. Enough to get you into any instance and maybe stay alive but not be as useful as well-geared others.

All of the gear we all "earned" that we have now will be obsolete as soon as Stormblood comes out. It does seem like a weird decision to bring this out now though, but it's not like if you have the relic or savage weapons, you'll somehow be undergeared if you don't get the i280 from Diadem.

People expected their weps to be obsolete come Stormblood, it was a natural order of things. But noone expected their relic weapons to be rendered pointless this quickly. Remember that this was supposed to be released ALONGSIDE the relic weapons. Are the 280 weps hard to get? Sure, but it doesn't change the fact that now, with a bit of luck, anyone can get a weapon that is BiS regardless of the amount of time they've spent. This is made worse by the fact that the only other content to do in diadem is a mindless FATE grind.

It's incentive for people to participate in the Emergency Mission.
If it wasn't a really really cool reward; I would just continue to gather or farm IVs and not contribute.
Or at least; that's the rational answer I made up using logic and reason.


The feeling is similar if you have just completed your relic, and then very shortly after get your Alex weapon. Or whichever order.
Ever since 2.0 removed weaponskill/ability modifiers from gear, this has been the iLV problem.
That being said; I don't think 5 item levels is enough to make your efforts in Savage meaningless.

If you'd like to look at this in a positive light; now your raid static has new content to do instead of just Alex.
You get the possibility of gearing subjobs, getting better BiS gear, and the very rare chance of maybe getting an i280 weapon.

Coming from FFXI, having only 1 end-game option has been pretty terrible, so hooray! Now you have two.

Personally I'm almost fed up with grinding and building up my gear just for the next patch to come out and have to do it all over again. Then something like diadem to come out and drop gear that is higher ilvl and better stats than what took months to build to build up.

With new gear coming out with newer patches all the time I have trouble gearing all the jobs that I enjoy playing. I still have jobs I enjoy playing geared with the old Eso gear, on one hand I do enjoy this game and on the other hand I miss the old days of ff XI where gear is relevant for years and you could gear multiple jobs with it's BiS without another jobs gear getting out dated every few months.

I do kinda wish people would stop saying stuff like 'Stormblood wouldve made them redundant anyway'. Like, WE KNOW THAT. We ALWAYS knew that. But Stormblood is 3 months away. That's month of trying to clear/beat times in Savage content, and months of trying new ways of doing things with a set 'bassline' of attack power.
It's also a few months of celebrating BiS. Yay! Finally the grind is over! Let me do stuff with my awesome new best weapon in the gam.... oh wait... D:
ALso, I know they dont like to admit it, but we all know there's a massive amount of people parsing. FFlogs has become a huge part of the end game community, regardless fo if SE likes it or not - it's apparent that that's what paying customers want, so they should at least try not to put a MASSIVE middle finger up at them by destroying it in one hit.

It's also a concerning representation of SE's complete lack of quality control, and listening to customers, and show's that they don't give a shit about giving untrue expectations (Yoshi P said Relic would be BiS - that was a lie).
It's bad enough they didn't even think a tiny bit about A12S weapon stats, let alone this absolute bullshit.
The real question is - is there a way of communicating the MASSIVE amount of unhappiness this has caused? Posting here - does it help anything? Should we all be typing somewhere where theyll see?
