They had to make a pretty big carrot to make people chase after for the next 4 months. Pretty sure this is the last content we're getting before stormblood.

If they didn't put this in, the content would be DoA and everyone would just unsub for 4 months.

For those curious, the RNG is, indeed, brutal. You have approximately a 0.1% of getting a weapon for your main. This doesn't include the RNG associated with unlocking Emergency Missions.

If true, the chance is approximately the same as getting the infinite drake off timewalking bosses in WoW.

It really, really, really is throw away gear. It's pink gear, it has randomized stats and it will help you level in Stormblood.
If anyone still has this after they have hit 67 - 69, they need to be kicked out of a duty with extreme prejudice.

This gear will help in the leveling process, but will quickly be outclassed and tossed to the wayside. I don't think we should worry about now and should only be concerned about later; that being Stormblood.

In what world will this be leveling gear? The vast majority of players will level a specific job through SB. Now, what are the chances that they receive one of the new 280 weapons for *that* Job?

There's only one reason for the new weapons being so much stronger than Alex/Relic; the dev's knew that they would need to incentivize the player base to run Diadem. That speaks volumes for their confidence in the 'new' Diadem.

I think this last couple of patches embody everything that's wrong with the direction the game is taking. 3.55a was all about overhyping content that turns out to be super disappointing, 3.55b is about not learning from the mistakes of the past (like how one of the big problems with the original Diadem was that if half of your party decided to leave or go gather you were SoL and wouldn't be able to kill anything nor get credit, something that hasn't been fixed in this incarnation) and about lowering the bar and adding RNG/painful grinds to "compensate" instead of encouraging people to improve and find the courage to attempt more content. And in-between they added a couple of things directly to the mog station and overpriced, and while they're not really important to the game it does speak about where they're going with it.

I think quite a few people still don't get it why people are so upset about the IL280 weapons.
Diadem is still boring and overall horrible in my opinion (and yes, I was already in there), but this does not belong to this topic here.

Stormblood is still three months ahead. And it's not about the percentage of getting the weapon for your main class.
It's about the possibility of it. Even if the chance is just 0,1%, it CAN happen. And it will. And personally I was already falling asleep just by doing one run just now.
As raider I can just agree to Baalfrog who posted a few posts above me; speedruns will become even more ridiculous now.
Right now people have more or less equal gear, depending whether they have relic or not - but now it will become a complete joke.
Statics with at least one IL280 weapon will probably be at least 2-3 seconds before any other (especially if it's a DD weapon) without even being any better or providing a better strategy to clear it.
If you don't do speedruns will more likely not care about this; but some do.

What the actual FUCK Square? We can't even upgrade 260->270 with gobdip yet and JUST got our 275 weapons from the anima chain after months of grinding and now you throw RNG bullcrap at us that's better than our hard-earned relics or savage weps regardless of secondary stats? Why the hell have we been wasting all this time and money on your game when we could have just quit for months and subbed again right before stormblood and had the same level of gear as any scrub who ran diadem a couple times? Really feels like a huge middle finger to their active subscribers, more than anything.
