Will you add a "Mute Player"' function in the future?

A lot of online games lately have implemented a "mute player" function to avoid being bothered by troll behavior or harassment while playing. I know there's a report function in the game, but I don't necessarily want to use it whenever I meet trolls in duties, most of the time I'd rather ignore them altogether and happily go on with my day (especially because if I need to wait until I'm out of the duty I still need to put up with these players for however long it lasts). It would also be a good way to temporarily filter out players with annoying <se> macros.

Are there any plans to implement such a function in the game?

This exists, add them to your blacklist.

    Type /blist "their name"

This doesn't work cross-server yet though, or as far as I recall so not so useful in a duty.

From the wording, it sounds like he's looking for more of a blacklist "snooze" button, where you would only temporarily block an annoying player.

Personally, I have no problem permanently blisting a spammer. If they're being annoying now, chances are very high I won't miss not hearing them later.

You can always "unmute" them by removing them from your blist.

Ahhh ... Good to know. I haven't bothered with blisting someone in ages.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

Thanks, but I want to be able to mute players specifically during duties for the duration of it, not to blacklist them. Maybe I wasn't specific enough.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.

If they're annoying once, they'll likely be annoying again later. Why not blacklist them?

Can't do such a thing during an instanced duty. Try it, right clicking doesn't give you the option do do so, and the text command is invalid.

Yes, I too would like the option to be able to block people while in duties. Right now the only option is to turn off Party and Alliance chat as a whole. More and more I'm seeing people spam seriously annoying macros in duties, and having to wait until the end of the duty to block them doesn't help. Also I've noticed that it won't show names of people in other alliances when doing something like Weeping City in the Contact list.
