[Dev Request] Purchasable Allagan Pieces for Transfering

So I have a few friends who want to transfer from Balmung to another server, but the problem is they have a lot of gil and don't want to just give it up due to the gil transfer limit. I know this is an issue for a lot of people who would gladly transfer off big servers like balmung to less populated servers that have housing available but the biggest issue is the fact that they would lose a lot of gil in the process.

Would it be possible to have a vendor where we could purchase Allagan/Clear Demi pieces or some form of currency exchange so we don't lose the majority of the gil we have?

And if you're worried about it too much you could make the currency pieces cost more to purchase than they are to sell. Say for Tin pieces it could cost 50 gil to purchase with a 25 gil sell back rate. Bronze 150. Silver 600, Gold 2,750, Platinum 11k.

Unless someone can say otherwise; I don't see how this could be in any way game breaking or unfair.

You can do that by buying the gold and silver pieces from the marketboard. Just buy them from the marketboard and the sell them back once you transfer.

I'm aware... but sometimes the prices of the pieces are more than they want to spend. You also have the issue of the pieces selling out and becoming far more expensive than their intended sell price thus making it to where you loose far more than you want.

Well, your choices are either buy those pieces at a premium and get to keep some of your gil, or don't and lose all of it. I doubt SE is going to do anything to remove one of the few gil sinks the game has, sadly.

If SE wanted us to transfer more Gil, they would remove the cap.

Indeed, which is I suspect why they left the back door option of buying the coins on the MB from others in the game. Kind of an unofficial way for you to take more if you want/need to.

Oh ok. Well I doubt SE will change their system because they don't want people transferring too much money and messing up the economy of servers. That it why the limit is in place. I do think they should raise it some because there is more gil in circulation.

Agreed. Yet they aren't really keeping a decent eye on the economy as Balmung's economy is absolutely crap compared to other servers on our data center. Eikon cloth sells for about 4k per cloth on Balmung, on Jenova it's near 100k per cloth.

Check the server marketboard you're planning to transfer to and buy items that could have same or higher value so you spend your gil into items that you could re-sell there. It's risky because you might not end up selling everything, but like someone else said, I don't think SE wants to transfer all the money that could disrupt different world economies, otherwise there wouldn't be a cap.

Essentially OP is asking for gil limits on server transfers to be removed. Raising the price of the allagan pieces above their sell value just incurs a transfer tax, but still removes the limit.

Generally when people transfer, they can get around the limit by buying commodity items and reselling at the destination. It's inefficient, but allows a lot of wealth to transfer based on the relative economies. That inefficiency limits the use of the feature for the sole purpose of trading between server economies.

In the case of a Balmung -> Lower pop transfer, those 'friends' should be making a ton of money on the transfer. They can buy up high demand goods that are cheap on Balmung and sell them at the destination for much more. So there is absolutely no need for a gil limit boost or allagan pieces. Goods are relatively cheap on Balmung compared to any low/mid pop server. Why aren't they doing that?

Could it be they also want to transfer back to Balmung later after making the many millions of gil required to buy a Balmung house? That is why the transfer limit exits! It prevents Balmung from constantly dumping goods into other servers by capping the gil on return and even acts as a disincentive to transfer to high pop servers, helping control Balmung's population a little.
