Please just get rid of repairs.

    http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/32289-repairs/

Repairs prevent me from enjoying the game like i should, and im not the only one. You devs need to think up different gil sinks.

Every game i have played that has had a repair system ended up getting rid of it because its un-popular. Give us something we want to spend gil on, not spending money on something we already got.

IMO the only reason repairs are in game is cause they do not have anything to replace it with yet. You can see that every time they tweak repairs it gets easier and less bothersome... because it sucks.

With the materia system crafters are taken care of because gear is always being destroyed.

Its gonna happen eventually anyway, just do it.

Repairing isn't a gil sink (or else we wouldn't have the millions upon millions of gil we do), the only reason it ends up unpopular in games is because players hate having to work for things, they hate having to actually pay attention to what they're doing in their gaming.

Repair systems were fine before the "I want it noooow and I don't like micromanaging!" generation of MMO gamers sprung up. I like the repair system, they already simplified it enough for the complainers, they don't need to axe it.

It's just a gil sink right now. It was supposed to make crafters useful in the long run but it didn't work and as OP said they have materia now to keep them busy.

Edit. Well after a little bit of tought I agree that I prefer repairs than some other stupid death penalty.

Repair is in place because there needs to be some consequence to dieing/being in battle.

A couple of minutes in a weakened state isn't punishment enough for being reckless in battle.

The current system is very affordable compared to other games.

Repair NPC is your friend. Especially since NPC's can repair accessories in next patch.

You'd expect this sort of "I dont like Repair" "Airship cost is too much!!!111!" thread from someone who didn't have a LVL 50.

    But this? Shame on you.

actually that not why repairs are in place, repairs were here before that death penalty even existed.

    This makes no sense.

Repairs have always been here because there alway needs to be a penalty for being in combat or dieing.

    Your being pissy over nothing.

A gil sink (or any currency sink) purpose is to get rid of money in the economy to stabilize an overabundance of what's coming in, it's not doing it's job because there's also NPC repairing.

Let's put it this way, unless you're adamantly trying to meld 4 materia to gear and you're buying top materia constantly, the rich is still rich and will continue to get richer, this means the gil sink isn't doing it's job, because we can counter repair costs after just 1 leve, let alone selling spoils from leveling. A gil sink should be able to take out more gil than what comes in.
