Red mage requirements

There is some conflicting info in this thread, so here's an official source, from the Questions regarding Stormblood Pre-orders or Collector's Edition thread

You will be able to accept the quest to unlock red mage regardless of quest progression as long as your character has a level 50 Disciple of War or Magic class/job.

Earlier info from a FanFest keynote or PLL gave us the impression that RDM and SAM would require completion of the main story quest "The Ultimate Weapon". It seems the requirements have been updated/relaxed.


RDM and SAM will only require reaching Lv50.

Does this mean that the entry restrictions for Ishgard are being removed? Otherwise you'll get access to RDM/SAM but have nowhere to level them.

Anyone unlocking RDM/SAM will fall into one of two categories:

• Still has story quests between 2.0 and 3.0, and will gain xp while unlocking Ishgard.
• Has unlocked Ishgard.

So there isn't a problem in that regard.
