I don't think they'll add any solution that would free a ton of space. The more inventory problems you have means its more likely that you'll spend money on retainers. If anything, I'm surprised retainers are still account based and not per character.

Yeah, the wardrobe in WoW is better than FFXIV's system hands down, even if we don't consider inventory space. It just makes life a lot simpler and is much more convenient. Right now, WoW's transmog system is basically superior to FFXIV's in every way, and SE should really take a look at importing its core features–permanent appearance storage, storing different transmog profiles, and spec dependent (class dependent for this game) transmogs.
WildStar's holowardrobe, Rift's wardrobe storage, WoW's transmog collections, GW2's account wardrobe... So many examples of this and it works beautifully. Meanwhile, my two retainers, amoury, and inventory are bursting at the seams with glamour gear stored for all the different jobs. :/ SE's more interested in renting out inventory like the cruddiest of cruddy f2p mmos than truly fixing the problem though - at least it sure seems that way sometimes.

That's the one thing that's always kinda irked me about this game. Even in FTP games, if I buy extra storage, it's mine forever regardless if I'm active or inactive for short or long periods of time. It will always be there waiting for me to come back. As far as I know FFXIV is the only game that rents space as part of a monthly fee. It's always left this really sour and bad taste in my mouth.

DCUO had the best system for this. Simply obtain the gear, BOOM, the appearance is saved. No item needed, nothing.

Technical reasons prevent SE from doing a glamour "closet" the way we'd like... but that doesn't mean an alternative couldn't be implemented within existing game code.
What if there was a Glamour Vendor that worked the same way the Calamity Vendor does. Any item appearance you have acquired gets unlocked on this vendor so you can use the appearance, get rid of the original item, and re-buy a binding (non-tradeable/non-sellable) version of it from the Glamour Vendor any time you need to re-glamour. In this way an existing mechanic is used (the calamity vendor code) and we aren't forced to tie up precious inventory space with our glamour gear.

How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?

It'd be nice to have really but they keep going on about inventory space.. What bothers me more is we know they can do it to a degree as they've just gone and done it with the PvP Garo Gear on the Calamity Salvager..
