I have to use my intel card... Dedicated card won't work. PLEASE HELP!

I'm using an older laptop. Here are my specs:
Intel Core i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.3 GHz
RAM: 8GB
64-bit Windows 10
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660M.

I remember a year ago or so, when I updated my drivers, my card started to crash, give me blue screens, give me that popup saying the card crashed but recovered, etc.etc. Now when I try to use my nvidia card the laptop just freezes up. I can open up all games to the menus, but as soon as I load the game to the point where I'm physically playing, that's when all games I try freeze (i.e. ff14, loading my char into the world).

Playing on my intel 4500 or w/e card is soooo laggy. I've heard of people saying to find the oldest driver that worked and use that, not the newest drivers - that the newer drivers with windows 10 don't work well with old graphics card. Is this true? If so, where would I find what driver to use? Do I just have to do guesswork? Try one at a time until I find one that works?

Please help a poor old soul out.
