    The criteria for a good mentor are:
    - Ability to help (knowledge)
    - Willingness to help (motivation)
    - Patience (social skill)
    - Respect (social skill)

    Those are what you'd need to check as requirements. The issue is that an automated system can't do that and whatever you use as proxy for these qualities will necessarily fail to certain degrees.

    Not really correct.

    Knowledge can be assessed from how much you play the game. It's not foolproof, but one would assume someone who's cleared a dungeon knows the mechanics.

    Commendations can be an assessment of patience and respect, as it comes from other players. Again, not foolproof, but it's still a measure.

    This is the only system we have; making the requirements of entry into mentorship and access to its rewards will only invite more abuse of the system.
