I know the difference between the two, but it is still applies. You do in fact play video games to surround yourself with people doing the same thing. Why else you would be playing an MMORPG?Pretty large difference between studying martial arts with other people, and playing an online video game. You're trying to better yourself, and surround yourself with people doing the same thing when you do something like martial arts. Not so much in a video game.
Walk up to a woman in her mid-20s and talk about martial arts training. Then try talking about how you spent 12 hours playing a video game. See which one gets you further. Not exactly as though you're going to ask her to join you for a 12 hour gaming session for a first date.
You're investing time to get some gratification out of the process. If you're doing martial arts for others instead of yourself, you're obviously missing the point of martial arts, but I guess it's circumstantial--perhaps you want to fight worthy opponents.
Whatever the case, I know what you're getting at but like I said before, it does apply to gaming.
Depend which woman, what you are saying doesn't make sense really. There are woman out there in their mid-20's loving games just as men does.Walk up to a woman in her mid-20s and talk about martial arts training. I mean I've known girls who prefer to play WoW rather than going outside. Who would refuse a dinner invite because "it's raid night". Who would refuse to go to bed before doing "their dailies". And don't say something like "I bet they were ugly" that's also a false statement.
You can be mid-20, cute and be a hardcore player. I won't even talk about professional players. I remember when attending the ESWC grand finals back in 2006-2007 when it was still held in Paris, most of the team members in Counter Strike Woman were actually... pretty attractive.
Antipika.

It's the exception to the rule. Ask 100 attractive girls on the street if they're hardcore gamers. I'll bet you get less than 20.Depend which woman, what you are saying doesn't make sense really. There are woman out there in their mid-20's loving games just as men does.

That makes no sense. If you've ever done martial arts you'd know that there are people who only train an hour a day 3 time a week or so. People who just do it for fun or just to keep in shape. Would you consider them as "hardcore" who trains every day and travels and competes in tournaments? I know when i was doing those things I didn't have time to do much else.
People that don't take it seriously I suppose, but if you are serious about martial arts; you need to train everyday. It must become part of your life. One to two hours a day is all you need to develop your body, but it's more than just keeping your body in physical shape. You went around traveling and even took part in competitions. That's definitely hardcore but in my opinion, any form of martial arts; if practiced seriously, is hardcore. That makes no sense. My original point was step on the idea that "hardcore" is basically saying, "You have no life, no girlfriends, blah blah."
Not everyone is some multimillionaire that can spend their day in any matter they see fit.
It is hardcore..and it gives you less time for other things like a full time job or girlfriend or social life. If you want to go full throttle with anything you've got to sacrifice something else.People that don't take it seriously I suppose, but if you are serious about martial arts; you need to train everyday. Lol you seriously think someone who can afford to put in 10+ hours into a game has a girlfriend? I mean a real one..not an internet one.My original point was step on the idea that "hardcore" is basically saying, "You have no life, no girlfriends, blah blah."

You're right which is why I can't play this game as often as I like. That doesn't mean "hardcore players" should look down on me just because I've got a busier schedule than them.
My coworkers have been married for 3 years. They play World of Warcraft 14 hours a day 3 days a week. They both work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday on 8 hour shifts, so on those days they only play about 7 hours. That means they spend a grand total of 70 hours online, gaming together every week.
Yep. It's pretty easy for hardcore gamers to be spoken for. They tend to date and marry other hardcore gamers. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that they met while playing Runescape several years back. So yea, it happens.
And before you start saying there aren't many hardcore female gamers out there, you should probably crawl out from under the rock you live beneath. This is 2011, where 40% of gamers are female. Don't believe me? Look it up. As a female gamer, i would never date a guy who wasn't as into gaming as i am.
Couples who like gaming will game together. Couples who like movies will watch tv together. Couples who like riding bikes will proooobably ride bikes together. It's all about finding a person who is right for you.

Casuals are aware that just because something takes a long time, that doesn't make it challenging or fun. Hardcores are convinced that the more time they have to spend doing nothing but still in game, that they're experiencing "real content."
