Quick Synthesis - Please speed it up!

Quick synthesis is slower than sitting there and just spamming "synthesize". The main benefit is you don't have to do anything, but most of the time you only use it when you know you are high enough to not end up with a bunch of failed synths.

The time between each synthesis should be cut in half!

Depends what your making. If you're quick synthing level 60 stuff like hard silver ingots and chimerical felts quick synthetic is a lot faster than than spamming normal synthesis.

Also recently it was updated so you get a decent amount of hqs now without even trying. Got 19 hq aurum Regis nuggets quick synching 99 of them today.

I agree with OP. Quick synthesis is not quick enough. Please speed it up. A lot.

I think doing what GW2 does as far as gradually speeding up the process the more items you're quick-synthing at once would be a good balance!

It's to do with the global cool down (GCD) & how the servers communicate with the client. It is designed to ensure that cheating via 'injection' methods aren't possible. It could speed up in 4.0 as I believe they may be reducing the GCD as part of the software/hardware upgrades. However, it won't be as quick as many people would desire simply because of how the game is coded.

It should take 1 minute max. Then it would be quick synthesis. Now its just "automated" synthesis. Not quick at all.

As I mentioned, it's just not possible in a system that is designed around 'checks & balances' like this one. Sure, it could all be done speedily client side, like in many other games, but it is incredibly easy to cheat the server into believing that you just crafted a stack of 99HQ items that way. Having a stable economy & lack of craft hacking is paid for by crafting (especially quick craft) being slower than ideal.

I intended on replying to this topic nearly as soon as it was posted by adding my own opinion - the same as OP. Quick synthesis is very slow. I oftentimes desire to craft whole stacks of various things for various reasons, but it feels so slow. It often interupts in my crafting, because either I do quick synthesis and so something else for a while (which isn't ideal if I was specifically in the groove of the crafting stuff to begin with), or I specifically wait until later when I do have other things to do. So, I agree that it should be faster. I then came across Culfinrandir's message, and, well, there is certainly a fair point there. I know little about the technical side of things, so I'll trust that the information is accurate, and that sort of refutes the original suggestion through that fair point.

However, there are simple workarounds that Square-Enix could implement to speed up quick synthesis that would work for all users just as equally as it does now. For instance, each quick synthesis done could count for up to 10 crafts at once, however many the user decides. Up to 10. Instead of 1 per. Of course, the materials would be used all together, and it would require the correct amount of inventory space to quick synthesis for more than 1. I figure that HQ would be determined in the same way. Surely the server could calculates HQ for 10 items within that time span... or, they could make it so if the game determines that the item ends up NQ, they are all NQ, and if it ends up HQ, they are all HQ. Is this idea workable?

Holy-chan, your idea seems logical & reasonable on paper but the game is so tightly tuned that the servers are likely unable to handle it. We all complain about many things in the game but once you find out more about the actual working of the system as a whole it's a lot easier to understand why certain limitations exist & why things we all see as "easy options" (like the infamous butt slider) just can't be done using what we currently have.

That's not to say that such things won't appear in the future but realistically there would have to be a complete rewrite & restructuring of the system as it is akin to a whole new game. It might happen if the game continues to grow, like has happened to other MMOs but Square Enix are well known to be quite "frugal" when it comes to FFXIV & may prefer a new release over a revamp.
