common brown snakes give live birth so why not Au'Ra? but they definitely come off as more mammalian than reptile... as for the lack of children NPCs in ARR i think you could attribute it partly to the fact that its post calamity and having children NPCs being front and center in the wake of such a disaster would be a tad depressing at the very start of a game like this... tho there are children when you learn the harvest dance in Gridania which i suppose was to give a bit more realistic depth... and lets be honest as an adventurer wandering the land most of your dealing would be with adults... and a random strange adult walking up and talking to children everywhere would be a bit creepy to the locals... good luck getting help when people think you might be some pedophile.

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

    From the Race Naming Conventions:

"Himaa: For reasons unknown, one out of every three pregnancies amongst the Himaa result in twins. As a result, over half the tribe's members have a doppelganger. This can prove an advantage during attacks, as it confuses the enemy into believing the dead have risen."

... I don't see the need for the drawn-out debate. The truth is right there.

If you check out a certain poster's thread history it should make sense.

At least it's only a fortnight until the next story patch so we'll have a lot more to discuss around these parts then.

Mix of silly responses and not reading other responses - I mentioned the Himaa tribe thing a week ago and Cilia just reiterated it and you can bet someone will skip over both posts to posit a theory not supported (or even actively contradicted by) the lore.

Regardless of egglaying or livebirthing, a friend much more familiar with lizards has suggested that the au ra "males" and "females" might in fact be swapped, as lizard egglayers tend to be bigger than fertilizers. What we see as males might in fact be the party that supports gestation, and birthing or laying as appropriate. They certainly are the ones that have the hips for it.
