    My point is that I trust the XIV team to make outfits that fit RDM because they clearly understand what a RDM is visually. This may actually improve the diversity of caster gear and see more guantlets and capes than robes. Casters do have a few diverse options, but I feel like RDM will push the boundary.

    I never said it looked bad, just that it didn't really look like a classic RDM

    Hoodies? Did FFXI do a collab with Grand Theft Auto or something? Because that sounds stupid.

    He's talking about stuff like the Vermillion Cloak that was basically a hoodie.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
    Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

    I stand by my original post after seeing that.

    Posted in another thread, but here's the English notes: http://gamerescape.com/2017/03/01/ne...rview-summary/

    Personally I'm rather relieved. It's a Caster. I know people wanted a melee DPS which wove spells in between slashes, but Samurai is going to be plenty melee DPS for us as is. It'll be good to have a proper new Caster.

    I'm glad actually, I like sharing gear between jobs because it saves me space and you can do some very interesting things when it comes to looks, therefore I really dislike job-specific gear!...

    I hope Samurai shares gear with Monk, that would raise it's usefulness and I wouldn't leave them for last in the gearing order, I miss those sets from 2.X that could be shared by all melee DPS!...

    RDM wore a few light armor pieces but a majority of their equipment were robes. In FFXI, their main gear was caster gear shared with GEO/BLM/WHM/SCH, while BLU wore more armor that fit with Rogue-like jobs (PUP/THF/DNC/NIN/BST/RNG). I would have bet my life that SAM would share Maiming gear, based on the fact that SAM in FF games usually wore heavy armor or middle weight armor. I know SAM wore light kimonos and stuff in town, but in battle their wore actual armor, so its odd they're on striking and not maiming.

    And in the original Final Fantasy, they could wear more than robes and caster gear. Chain mail and the likes.

    Well, ffxi had all kinds of strange job groupings for different gear sets. There was light cloth stuff that was sam/nin/mnk/pup, there was heavy armor that was war/pld/sam/drk/drg. There was also melee stuff that was rdm/blu/thf/rng etc and then the caster sets that were rdm/whm/blm/smn (and sometimes blu).

    Point is, you could make just about any argument you want with ffxi as an example, but we don't need/want ffxi-2.

    And in the original final fantasy there was a piece of gear red mage could wear, but when you upgraded to red wizard, they couldn't. In any case, there's various options for casters to look more heavily armored now, so rdm will be no exception to that.

    Speak for yourself.
    I'd love a ffxi-2.
    Not saying i want ffxiv to become a ffxi-2.
