New Player Harassment [rant]

I was in Ifrit normal today, because of a roulette, and what I witnessed made me really disappointed. The player (won't reveal names) in question called an archer a noob, and proceeded to insult them for attacking Ifrit instead of the nail.

I politely, and reasonably stated that it was wrong to insult her, and that it wasn't going to make the trial any better. He just wouldn't stop, and I had no choice but to report.

What I don't understand is how people think this is constructive, even in high level content. Insults just fan the flames, causing the run to be more stressful. You should strive to be reasonable, and calm, even in undesired situations. I know that it's harder depending on the person, but come on. At least be quiet if all you're going to do is spout your mouth off and make it worse.

Being mean to new players can also drive them away from the game, due to it being a fresh experience. If you value your playtime, you should be kind to them, so that we continue to have new people around. They are vital for the games longevity.

TLDR; Being reasonable, and kind makes the game a lot better for everyone.

Yeah unfortunately this game's community isn't all sunshine and rainbows like people want to sell it.

Can only hope for every person like that there's someone like you to cancel it out. Nothing is worse than discouraging a new player or being discouraged as one.

What I did to help her was explain that not all players are like him, and to hold those that are special to you in her heart. It's not the bad players that make this game, its the good ones that you get to know during your adventures.

I think it has to do with the whole watch a guide or something mentally that many unfortunately has. They expect you to know a fight even when its your first time.

Sadly this, granted if its a normal trial there really is only 2 mechanics. Stay behind ifrit unless your the tank and get the nail. Really all anyone would need to say for them to understand cus I agree, attacking the newbies isn't going to do anything but make them reconsider their game choice.

I'd also probably wager player was also in from a roulette, and probably expects all ARR content to be an easy rush to reward, without ever considering that it can still be new for the newbs.

Would be nice if those types understood "roulette" doesn't mean "face roll."
