I still don't get what it's doing in Dun Scaith but....meh, it's not that bad.
The issue comes from the fact it was teased as a super thing, a trial of it's own, not a trash mob hence the disapointment
It would be nice if it could drop the pieces to get the horns from one of Rowena's pet
(considering the FATE is never up ^^")
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
Yes it is. I like the fight, even if it is an easy difficulty boss. Cannot be a trial because then, people will do it 1 time and forget for the rest of the week, difficulting the queues a lot. Put in the Dun Scaith is a good idea, as Dun Scaith is run all the week. Also, this boss doesn't suppose to exist, and wasn't planned for the game. So it is better they put in dun Scaith rather than just not put him. Also, it is a Prototype, like the name suggest. Is not as powerful as Ultima (And even Ultima is weak). Even makes sense lorewise. I won't do a drama for this.

Yes, I'm totally fine with the iconic Ultima Weapon being knocked down to a 1 minute weaker than some adds miniboss.
/Sarcasm
to be fair it is proto ultima XD
but really I got what I expected the fan fest fight in game and really didn't expect to be its own trial due to this interview.
Famitsu: At Fan Fest we enjoyed the 24-man Proto-Ultima fight. Was it created solely for the event?
Yoshida: We plan to implement it in a patch for those who were unable to attend Fan Fest. You might want to look forward to how you access the fight.
Famitsu: Will we be able to play it in-game?
Yoshida: Yes, the release schedule will be similar to the Odin trial. Since that trial was stand-alone it led to the problem of people no longer queuing for it as time went on. We’ve taken a lesson from that and we’ve put Proto-Ultima in a new place, so please look forward to where it’ll be.
Famitsu: Will it still be a 24-man fight?
Yoshida: Yes.
It's not what I was expecting but yeah, I'm not losing sleep over it.
I think my qualms with it is that Proto Ultima, while yes a weaker version of Ultima, shouldn't be as squishy, easily pushed past and forgettable. The Succubus it replaced dealt more damage, had more HP and was overall more enjoyable [And that's saying something, I didn't want to fight Halicarnassus again >_>]. It's also extremely out of place in Dun Scaith, a predominantly Void-themed area, and the justification they /attempt/ to do was half a sentence. The whole thing was half-assed and felt clunky, pretty sure just as a means of giving players another way to get geared, sure, but is this the best they could do?
When the Little Ladies' Day event had more substance and the Succubus was a better overall mini-boss, I don't think people are wrong to complain. I won't lose sleep over it but I will say I'd rather they not bother at all if this is what the end result ends up being. Or at least be honest about it. They kept the whole thing a mystery and implied it would be more than what it was. That's why everyone was riled up.
