My thoughts exactly. Also with the wording of Slip...something I'm led to believe we haven't seen the last of Proto-Ultima yet. Maybe he'll tie in with the FATE in Azyz Lla at one point, like Coeurlregina does.![]()

It's ok. As much ppl going to complain that it's too easy, remember Yoshi's quote in the fanfest towards the community, "I don't trust anyone"........or something like that. You make it too hard, people complain that it's too hard and vice versa if it's easy. You can't win at that point so it turns into the "screw it" way and take it for what it is.As it's another 'weekly' thing now I just want to end it fast and leave the instance as soon as possble. And if there's a 1 minute fight instead of 8 dull minutes long, that's great because it saves a lot of time in the long run.
No challenge? If I'll want a challenge I'll do Savage, ty.

Then you have people not playing your precious content, and eventually your game, as much as you'd like, if at all. it has to have some appeal. Becoming tone deaf isn't the answer, and I'm sure that is not what they are doing, because it is important to know that this is lazy and inaccurate to what they advertised. It's ok. It's not about being tone deaf, inaccurate in advertisement, it just that they tried the community's ideals and it brings frustration not only to the team, but upcoming players in the end. Please don't forget that they attempted to please the community in binding coils, Alexander Midas and Gordias, Steps of Faith................so many that they done, changed and still people continue to have an issue with. It gets the the point where they barely respond to the community on 95% of everything(exaggeration) unless it's absolutely important overall. Then you have people not playing your precious content, and eventually your game, as much as you'd like, if at all. it has to have some appeal. The only thing I don't like about proto-ultima is his high-pitched green beams when I am wearing headphones. That stuff makes me want to claw my ears out D: I thought I wouldn't hear it again after I completed Minstrels ballad: Ultima and The Praetorium. I was wrong D:

For all those saying that it's a prototype, so of course it's weaker than the normal Ultima... Just because it's an early stage of the the thing, doesn't mean that it's weaker, it could just as well mean that it's more volatile and harder to control than the "finished" Ultima weapon, meaning that it could have very well been alot more dangerous. Isn't Ultima also supposed to grow stronger from consuming aether, as it did when consuming the primals in the earlier game? There's no telling what the Proto Ultima might have devoured since it got lose.
Overall, a very lackluster fight.

I was grudgingly entertained by the encounter. I thought that the mechanics were interesting enough, and the difficulty on-par with what a Dun Scaith midboss should be.
The problem is, Proto Ultima has been a fight teased since 3.0. Folks could watch him emerge from the ship in Azys Lla, fly around, and eventually spawn the Prey Online FATE there. I was confident that eventually we'd actually be facing the thing in combat, and that it might even be the climactic battle of the expansion - possibly even the lead-in trial battle for 4.0, much as Steps of Faith was for 3.0. For it to be implemented the way that it was was kind of a letdown; I expected more. I'm not gonna lose a whole lot of sleep over it, though.

just another thing that the community hyped up for no real reason. all the devs ever said about it was "hey know that fight you could only do at fanfest? Well now we are gonna let everyone do it." That's it not sure why people were expecting a hard fight with there fully geared out classes. This community really needs to stop building hype trains until an actual reason to build one is given.
I am super ultra ok with it! Thank you for giving me a way to get 270 accessories (and I like the way that chest piece looks) onto my backup classes!!
To the people saying it was falsely advertised: as stated before Yoshi made it pretty clear it would not be a stand alone trial. When my group and I first did it was a welcomed surprise and a very fun fight. Def more fun than the mini boss that is usually there. Thank you FFXIV team!

Its not the worst thing thats ever happened. I honestly dont even get the lore unless dun scath somehow is in azys lla (no it isnt) I mean a trial probably wouldve been better, considering the reward is at least ex worthy but thats fine, makes grinding scripture less necessary...
