I was never particularly hyped for it to begin with, so I'm fine with it. It's a short fight, but it was new and I enjoyed it the first run. Plus I finally got some gear from running Dun Scaith because of it. ;u;

Oh my god you poor unfortunate soul. *PATS*
I thought it was just slightly disappointing that a WEAPON got relegated to trash pull, but at the same time I'm glad they're at least giving casual players more options to mix and match their gear if they don't do Savage. It also gave me the option to get a 270 healing ring that isn't the Tome one, and now my SS and Crit are both at a healthy 900![]()
Honestly I don't get what the big deal is.. A proto- of something is short for Prototype, no? Or Primitive/First version of something..
It's no surprise that it's basically an easy version of Ultima.. (Even though it's lvl 60 and Ultima is a lvl 50 fight)..
The fact that it's just a tack on mini boss in a duty that most people are doing weekly is fine by me, it's just a free 270 accessory every week. If you want the trial version of Ultima then just do the old one unsynced or go do the FATE when it pops.

Ehm, I like that we can get accessories from the weekly now. But fight wise, it's just... really lazy. The succubus was better.

I'm fine with it. The argument for cutting down the time on runs is fairly irrelevant though, because my Dun Scaith last night still took an hour and was a complete mess towards the end, as always.
There's speculation that Proto-Ultima will appear in a new 24-man each week and replace a miniboss each time. We'll see what happens next week.

It's Ultima....why is it a weakling "elite mob"?
It gives tokens for ilv 270 accessories, why is it so gimp? A9S gives 270 accessories...Savage is also weekly (but low chance to get what you're looking for) you're guaranteed a 270 accessory from gimp Ultima; even the tougher main bosses give LOWER LEVEL gear.
They need to at least double its HP. as far as mechanics go, it was ok.

ah, no. There's just one in existence according to the story, not an army. Pultima is a poor implementation for something that is supposed to be a golden, shiny version of the ultima weapon. the equivalent of this is having the Warring Triad (or other primals) be a roulette dungeon run to be mowed down. no joy at all.

Took him on last night, it didn't end as quick as others have posted but it was still quicker than what is normally there. Yet, all those complaining how easy it was were all dead in the fight.
People would put in threads about how they can't level every job or how difficult it was to level up multiple jobs. We are nearing the end of 3.0 and with 4.0 this gives people to spec out the entire accessory side of things. There shouldn't be much of an issue for people getting geared up for all content at this point along with getting ready for 4.0
People also complained over the way instances and dungeons were set up. They begged even for the slightest difference, as slight as this is..we got one. Yet people are not happy.
One thing I see a lot since 2.0 is that people seem to have a hard time getting gear for the accessory side while leveling up. In 3.0 the gear you could get at the end of 2.0 took you well into the 50's, sure you could go to 60 you were just being a pain in the rear for the most part. This should help most people with that issue.
Still, I like the ability of quests changing the monsters inside of an instance. Applying this to dungeons would be wonderful, you could get a token to instead obtain a piece of gear that you need for a job / glamour.
On the other hand, this was so easy to push through I have no idea what the fight is about...he jumps apparently at some point? I really couldn't tell, he was dead. The HP should be increased, and it's taking something that gives a good item level accessory of your choice and hands it to you. To me this goes against wanting to close the gap of the players. Making difficult content to where they have to dodge and perform. This fight is easier than the succubus but gives better rewards. There is both good and bad from this, just depends on which you get more out of.
The way this game is set up it is easy to make things too easy / hard. Our combat revolves around a few aspects so one change is a big one. This is their fault for the way the game was made to avoid it being too complex for people. In the end it's an easy weekly that stacks with other weekly quests. I'm not thrilled with it but I don't hate it either. So I'll continue to accept the taco inside a taco inside a taco bell quest, and I'm sure those who complain..will too. So you're feeding the machine.
