Square should put the Mog Wardrobe system from FFXI into FFXIV, but for glamour

In FFXI, there is a system for storing equipment related to classes. It only stores equipment, but it is expandable. While not necessarily used for glamouring items, adding a similar system to FFXIV for storing vanity wardrobe items would greatly alleviate inventory issues.

I'd love any system that will allow me to not have to destroy items because all retainers are full, only to have to farm it again in the future......

The mog wardrobe is basicly the armoury chest we're used to on XIV but also kind of like retainers too.

What I think the OP is more looking at is the glamor system they have on XI. On there you can save a glamor set similar to how you save gear sets for each job, with the glamor sets you can switch jobs but your glamor set doesn't change when you switch to another job. This would work in combination with the mog wardrobe like our armoury chest, with stormblood I do believe the armoury chest is also being expanded which will help with the current limited armoury space.

It's already in the game. The Armoire is designed to store special gear. I think OP is just asking for it to support more gear sets?

I get paid on Friday and I'll pay my sub for XI and take some screen shots of what I'm talking about. I can't check till I'm done work but I don't think XIV has what I'm referring to, but I found out about it last time I was on ff XI about the glamor option they had put in but it's literally a gear set of gear you have sitting in your mog wardrobe but you can lock the gear set look so it stays the same no matter what job you switch to.

Like you can do a gear set wearing all ninja gear right down to the katana's then lock that set switch to whm and be walking around wearing that set but when anyone looks at your gear they will see the whm gear you're equipped with not the nin gear it looks like you're equipped with

Well, I'm hoping it will help, but I haven't heard enough details yet about that expansion to be confident about whether it will or not. Currently we've got 24 jobs and I think it's up to 42 gear sets, with 25 armory chest slots per category, so they couldn't add two new jobs without increasing it somewhat.

If they double it so that it covers all 44 gear sets with a few to spare, then yes, that would take care of a lot of the issue, at least as far as direct inventory space goes (though it still doesn't do much about the other glamour gear stored on our retainers).

But if all they do is boost it up from 25 to 30, so that we can keep one item per job (with four to spare rather than the current one to spare), that wouldn't help a whole lot. All it would do is keep the addition of new jobs from making the problem worse. (Though continued additions of more gear will keep making it worse anyway.)

The Armoire would take care of the issue if they'd expand it from only storing a few select items like Vet rewards and (some) seasonal event items, and instead make it store all the glamourable gear in the game. Storing it there would remove all customization (which it already does now, but none of the current items can have materia, just dyes). But once you're keeping it for glamour purposes, materia no longer matters.

Of course, it would have to be a lot bigger than it is now to go from storing a few select items to basically every piece of gear in the game except for belts and off-hand tools. But the design of the armoire is well suited to storing lots of items without taking up much storage space, so that could be a much better fix than something like a ten-fold increase in inventory and retainer inventory, while doubling the armory chest, which would be an approximate equivalent if they insist on their current pattern of only using the most inefficient space possible.

Now after thinking about this whole topic a lot more I've remembered a few things, I would need to log into XI to be sure on exact numbers but here goes.

In concern to the OP's suggestion with the mog wardrobes that is the equivalent to our armory chest, I believe there are a total of 4 mog wardrobes in XI each one with a total of 80 gear slots and a max of 320 gear slots between all 4. Our current armory chest holds a total of 300 gear slots divided into 25 slots per gear category, this is supposed to be increased with stormblood but we don't know by how much yet.

The Armoire you're referring to would be found in the inn rooms as well as the crafted one you can place inside housing, this is limited to special gears pieces like event, artifact, seasonal gears and ect. This would be the same as XI's moggle storage where you would store things like your artifact, relic, Empyrean, and a whole list more of various gear using the selected storage slip for that type of gear you're wanting to store.

Other storage in XI would have been your mog safe, mog storage, and mog locker which could all only be accessed from your mog house. each of those held a max of 80 items/gear each equaling a total of 240 slots combined. Then you had your personal inventory space via your gobbie bag, the mog sack, and mog satchel all of which held 80 items/gear max again equaling a total of 240 slots combined.

So in conclusion XI has a total of 480 item/gear slots from the storage features I can remember off the top of my head compared to 525 item/gear slots you get between the 175 items you can carry on you at any given time and the 2 free retainers you get.

The mog wardrobe for the 2 free ones you get 160 gear slots or 320 gear slots if you pay the monthly sub for #'s 3 and 4 compaired to the 300 gear slots our Armory chests currently hold.

I believe the Armoire can hold an unlimited number of gear pieces and so can the moogle storage.

Onto the off topic section I ended up adding earlier while trying to remember details of the mog wardrobe system.

XI had implemented a system in the form of gear sets and later added a lock option to the menu for it, now with this feature you could equip any gear you could equip for the job you were on and create a look you liked outfit wise you then would 'lock' the set. After locking the set you could re-equip all your BiS gear without changing your char's outfit thus 'glamoring' your gear, this didn't limit your 'glamor' look to the job you created it on for example you could 'glamor' yourself in full war artifact gear and be running around on your whm job unless someone looked at your gear they would think you were a war instead of a whm.

Personally I would like a similiar system like that adapted for XIV so you could give a unique look to your jobs that share the same gear like healers and tanks for example. Right now my whm ast and sch all have the same glamor because they're all equiped with the same lore/script gear aside from thier weapons of course.

I like FFXIs /lockstyle system better than FFXIV glamour system. FFXIs /lockstyle system allows you to save as many outfits as you want(the limit is like 1,000 or something) and you can change it anytime you want. If you can equip it you can /lockstyle it. bored of wearing an outfit after a few hours? just click on a new saved outfit and your done. No prisims, no shared glamour for gear and you can save your favorite outfits.
