In regards to my previous comment it works like this. Player A gives Player B 5.5mil for Player B to purchase Player A a code off the Mog Station. Player B gives Player A the code in exchange for gil. That is how they get past the untradeable barrier.
However if you get caught doing that prepare for the ban hammer. You're not supposed to trade cash shop items for gil. (source: the red part at the bottom)
