Where does mog station revenue go?

We have no idea how much goes back into the game but they have said that the EU servers were partially paid for with money earned from the Mog station and considering we are getting a major server overhaul that suggests quite a lot of money is being put back into the game.

People see stuff on the Mog station and get annoyed they cant get it in game, often ignoring the fact that often those items are created with sale on the mog station in mind and that the cost of creating them is factored into that.

Obviously that doesn't apply to all things but most of the non event stuff falls under that and probably a lot of the promotional stuff as well.

I have said this a number of times but to you feel they don't provide enough gear sets, glamours, emotes, mounts and content in general to be value for money for your sub? For me I think they do. I get a pretty meaty patch every 3.5 months with usually at least 3 new gearsets and a number of glamour items.

A while back they confirmed that some of the money made by FFXIV was being redirected into FFXV. I wouldn't be terribly surprised - given how unfinished/broken certain elements of that game are - if that is still the case.

With my fantasia habits, I probably funded all of FF15 so far. I apologise everyone :P

Your cash shop purchases probably get spent on fancy shareholder parties or something. EU datacentre was just a nice excuse to get people to accept the shop.

Why is everyone so concerned about a business making money? Are the developers, producers, artists, community team and company supposed to do this for good will? So what if they make extra by selling things on Mog Station? Whether it's used to re-invest in the game providing more content or features or to simply give bonuses to people, what you get out of spending money on the Mog Station is a digital in-game item. You bought it, you got it, be happy.

...I imagine they're concerned because many businesses will quite happily exploit their customers if given the opportunity. The whole 'businesses exist to make money' argument has always been rather silly. Yes, they do - but there's more important things than pure profit and the developers of The Witcher 3 proved that you don't need to charge for micro-transactions at every turn in order to bring forth a profitable, successful game. I myself purchase items from the Mog Station fairly regularly so I am admittedly part of the problem.

Greed is what makes capitalism work, but it only works if there is greed on both sides. Throwing cash at SE like they're a charity trying to cure cancer instead of a business trying rip you off for as much as possible will only lead to a slow degradation in the quality of their work.

Mogstation money goes to SE. SE invests that money in all the things they do. FFXIV is one of the things that they do. Therefore, some of the Mogstation money gets put back into the game - but don't expect it all to go there, or even most of it.

Mogstation purchases should only be thought of as "supporting FFXIV" in the vaguest of sense. Those purchases support SE, and SE is the company that runs FFXIV. They want FFXIV to be successful, and to continue to be successful for many years to come. So some of their resources are going to be channeled into the game. But SE also wants to create NEW games, so some of their resources will be channeled into those, as well.

SE has not promised that all Mogstation profits will be directly used on FFXIV, and they are under no obligation to make any such promise (in fact, it would be very foolish of them to make such a promise).
