In all seriousness, Allagans were able to make artificial voidsent. I'm pretty sure it wasn't beyond them considering to program their death machine to PERHAPS differentiate between the housecat and the local disaster causing god(dess)? Who would approve a automated military weapon that chases down imps thinking they are Zurvan?

A lot of time has passed since the Allagan era. I would bet that some of the machines likely aged, and begun making mistakes. Basically everything left of the Allagans is on its own until it runs its self out. Also Proto Ultima is a prototype, not a complete project. Prototypes aren't as good as the final product.
