    Proto Ultima and Mhach

So from the patch notes, I would think, the Quest "Unidentified Flying Object" will be for the proto Ultima fight.

As you can read in the requirements, it seems to be part of the Mhach quest chain.

"Players must have completed the quest "Freedom for Our Skies," and have unlocked the alliance raid Dun Scaith."

Any idea how proto Ultima fits into the Mhach lore?

    Spoilers Obviously
It doesn't, really. It is theorized in the quest that the machine mistook the voidsent for a primal and came to destroy it. It seems convenience-based rather than deep canon; at Fan Fest it took place in Azys Lla on a little island called The Last Remnant.

Honestly it just feels like they killed all the birds with one stone. Missing Proto Ultima FATE, a fight for Fan Fest that wouldn't need to be from scratch, somewhere to stick a 24-man trial where it wouldn't require new systems, gap accessories, and so on.

Lore was probably an after-thought, as it already requires several maybes. Why was Ultima there? Maybe it was trying to kill a primal. How did Ultima mistake a voidsent for a primal? Ehh, something something concentrated aether to manifest something something something very powerful something something it hasn't had a tune-up in 5,000 years. Maybe the goblin is wrong and Ultima also killed uppity Cloud of Darkness minions that grew too powerful and acted outside of certain parameters. "Please just have fun with the fight!" <loosens collar>

Possibly not as far-fetched as it seems.

While they don't need it to maintain their physical form, voidsent crave aether much like primals do thanks to how the 13th shard was destroyed. Ultima could have responded to the similar behaviour.

    : drinks an ether:

    Pultima: Eikon detected. Supernova ready.

In all seriousness, Allagans were able to make artificial voidsent. I'm pretty sure it wasn't beyond them considering to program their death machine to PERHAPS differentiate between the housecat and the local disaster causing god(dess)? Who would approve a automated military weapon that chases down imps thinking they are Zurvan?

Heh, I would reckon that there were parameters for scale involved- Pultima would seek out massive aether fluctuations akin to a primal.

Keep in mind that Proto-Ultima is only a prototype. It is possible it was never officially put to use at all because of various issues.

You fight it right where the Queen's Coffin was opened, so it clearly was homing on her.

Given what we know of the origins of powerful voidsent (champions corrupted by primal energies leaking out of auracite) it doesn't seem far-fetched at all really. Perhaps Proto Ultima detected "Primal aether" in the vicinity.

Ok...IF it somehow confused voidsent energies for a primal, and IF it went out of its way to hunt the source of it down. Why would it be waiting to attack YOU instead of the thing it came to hunt down? If it was the coffin that was destroyed, why would it not leave after its destruction? If it was Diabolos or the Shadow Queen, why would it not go ahead and attack them? Why, given all the potential attack targets that would and could have been confused for primals if it was called by voidsent, WHY, would it wait...for YOU?!

(sorry, I'm not angry at you, I'm baffled at the explanation, as much as it came from the goblin. The more I read it, the more it doesn't add up.)
