This is a bunch of BS. I would never complain about an outfit or emote being implemented in the game. I don't think anyone in their right mind would, save for those few with more money than sense. And people weren't just complaining arbitrarily about the Yokai event because it was "too hard". It was just horribly monotonous because there is not a single thing interesting about grinding fates.

Your whole post is not much more than setting up a bunch of strawmen and misconstrued arguments.

*You* might not, but others *do*. People don't want the gating of content but they want it in game. All 3 mounts in Gold Saucer are gated behind nearly 2mil in MGP. Plenty of people who complained loudly over Fenrir on release because it was too much work.

Let's assume you are a manufacture company and producing... jeans, for example. You make them of one specific size - you did a research and it said you that that specific size fits most of your customers.

Then you customer (one of them) comes and says: "Hey, they are too wide, can you make them of smaller size". You say OK and change the size. Then other customer (but you don't distinguish them one from another, they look all same for you) comes and says: "They are to narrow, I can't wear them".

Unsolvable?

Of course, you know the solution - make them of different sizes, and customers can choose one that they see most fit themselves.

Also, on a technicality, you do if you own PS4 and XboxOne and want to play games that have online connection. You need to buy the game, pay for the console's premium services/ access (Playstation Plus, don't know Xbox's), buy any content that a game releases, etc. I mean the whole reason FFXIV isn't on Xbox is because you'd essentially be paying a double sub since Microsoft insists it's needed and apparently won't relent. At least Sony took that requirement off for FFXIV.

That's fair. However the pricing on the premium console service is cheaper and covers all games you may want to play instead of only XIV in addition to other perks. The problem also doesn't exist on most of the same games on PC.

So what is the alternative? Toss everything in the cash shop?

Perhaps I'm just far too much of an old-school gamer, but I like the idea of working towards things in game. If the reward is worth it to me, but a bit challenging, I get to make the determination if it's worth my time and effort. If not, I move on to something else.

I did see the comment about XI, and for what it's worth, I honestly can't remember how the patches went back in the day when I was actively playing a lot. But with that said, they do still actively patch the game to this day. We tend to get new mounts and random items put into the login reward system The monthly patches add random battles, add items, and tweak/update/fix existing content.

Its not a White Knight issue, its a business person's issue. It makes me wonder how many of the people who complain against the CS understand how business work.

I studied business administration so I do know that companies needs to earn money to go on. But this does not mean that they can do everything they want. Yet even after your example with the death I still cant see why exactly raiding behind the CS would be a good reason to be angry and yet glamour not? Raiding is not the main content of the game, its a mode that the majority does not play and you also dont need it to win other content. Thus its also an extra and if I look at your example it would mean that its totally fine to put this into the cash shop. Its like instead of wanting to be buried on a funeral side you want to be buried special, like ashes over the sea. So I dont really understand why its not fine to put it behind cash shop?

Its just really strange how we got all of these stuff "free" in the game (we still pay sub) before CS and now suddenly the game is so worse with its sub numbers or costs that we even need basic emotes in the cash shop? Isnt that sad? I mean I could understand it, if it was a free to play game and every bit of glamour needs to be paid with real life money..but this is not a free game. Would you be okay if they came out and said that from now on we would only get mounts/pets/emotes from cash shop because its not the content we pay our sub for but something extra? (Which I disagree with, since for me glamour is content)

[Also lets not forget that a lot of people are just really angry because the price is way to much. I am quite sure that if you would find that flower and charged way too much for it that your customers would not be happy with it and depending on if you are doing this more often this might mean that they will look for another. There would have been way less anger from the players if this would have been account wide and maybe only cost 2 $. If just 7k people buy this, this would mean that they got 14.000 $..I am quite sure that the creation of the emote itself did not cost that much. But hey if they cost 7$ and 7k people buy it they get 49.000$..good for the company but as a customer it shows their greed]

SE can do whatever they want, but they still need customers that buy and pay for their product. They should just be really careful not to cross the line where they will loose too many. This is not the age where you only have one good MMO out there so people either need to play it or have nothing.

Edit: you know to explain it a little better: If my family have been your customer for a long time and we were always okay with prices for extras and yet when another one in the family dies all those extra things suddenly cost four times the price it did before (maybe one year ago or something) and maybe things that were part of the service now costs too than I am quite sure that this might be a line that was crossed too much. People might still stay since they know that you do good work and maybe they cant think straight right now thanks to their sadness but I am quite sure that in any other business and maybe even that one, most people would try to find someone else. And the same can be said about SE too. Not everyone will stay no matter what happens and SE should have this in their mind with all their crazy prices.

I would be totally fine with the cash shop existing if we had some way to obtain all items in game as well. It could be for a high MGP, or an achievement reward, or some other method - just having the option would be nice. That way people who enjoy projects in game have something to work towards, those who want it right away can buy it off the shop. Win-win.

Except your paying for Microsoft and Sony to upkeep and update their servers not paying for a company double dipping their fingers in your pockets, also completely neglecting PC which have none of these charges.
