Thank you for the detail explanation!

Although I also want to ask since I'm still a bit puzzled...
If my time is consumed with the physical world, then obviously I can't earn the gear normally by playing if I'm tied. Thus, I would have to buy. The cost for the gear would probably be around the same price as that leveling potion, and that to me is pricey. Not to sound like I know about in depth economics, but I'm just wondering if you can help me understand.

Just because they didn't work in-game doesn't make their work any less valid. If someone doesn't have the time to play enough to max out their tomes every week and do Dun Scaith or rare hunts, then it's perfectly fair for them to trade time for money. That is reality. Time is money and we trade time for money every day. That's economics and society.

And your accusation that it would be pay to win is false. It would only be pay to win if you couldn't earn the gear normally through playing the game in a reasonable amount of time proportionate to what the cost of the gear would be in real money.

Not saying they should or shouldn't do it... I have no horse in that race and don't care. But there's nothing detrimental or "un-balancing" about it, and definitely not pay to win. It's just trading time for money... which is a daily reality.
12 weeks to full i270 set at about 3-4 hours a day ; median salary in the U.S. ~$52k, 50 work weeks ~$1040/week, 40 hours/week ~$26/Hour so around $500/week is a proportional game time:work time value - ok. so shell out $6k on Mog Station for a full i270 set, works for me - I vote yes!

The industry Time:Value ratio is between $1-3 per hour. Meaning that the price equilibrium for what people are expected to pay to "skip" an hour of acquisition time is ~$2.

It takes roughly an hour a day (20-30 min for tanks), 4 days a week to cap your tomes. It takes about 11 weeks of capping tomes to get a full set of 260.

So 11 weeks * 4 hours per week = 44 hours to earn a full set of 260. Not going to try to calculate how long it takes to earn the raid coins vs rare hunts, so I'm just going to round it off to about 60 hours for a full set of 270.

So 60 hours * $2 = $120 for a full set of 270. Far more than what someone would have to pay in subs and time to earn it in-game

Well I probably missed it. I am on mobile phone lookin' at this after all, so forgive me!

Just because people are top gear in their current portraying roles, doesn't mean that is their main. They probably got their gears after constant multiple drops of the same ones for weeks. Also, if you are out dpsing people with low gear, that is a bragging right! ((Well don't brag it to them, because they can report you for parsing but you know... gloat about it with peers.)) So you don't really need to buy i270 gear because thats great.

And don't let toxic people let you down. Healers shouldnt put DPS first anyways. Also, that doesnt mean everyone who has end game gear is toxic. I may be retired, but I know for a fact that I was definitely not like that, and I'm sorry that you had to deal with those types of people in game. It's unfortunate.

LOl im just a healer, i do not care less except when there is a high geared healer not healing people because they didn't dodge mechanics. I just do not like other people doing it to others, and seeing it. Or healers trying to brag about their DPS.

I do not understand this "might not be their main" thing. Again if they have that gear, they should put effort in looking up rotations. I am not down about it, but point is, there is no "value" in this high gear to me because of the things I see. So therefor there is no balance issues in letting people buy gear anyway. This game is focused on self and does not ruin balance. Now if it was FFXI, or at least FFXI before those weird DL expansions, I would fully agree with you, it would cause balance issues in that game. This one? not so much

    Aah I see now...

For me, it's just... I've been through a lot of games that have options for people to buy gear (f2p and p2p), and it ruined the game for me. It turned into basically a war between people who bought gear and people who didnt and I wasn't really up for that. Went on to FPS for the longest time, and then my S/O took me back to MMORPG's again, aka FFIXV. I find this game pretty fair and balanced imo compared to what I have encountered in the past, and I wouldn't want to even risk of what might happen if it was pay to win all of a sudden. Besides the whole player conflict, I really like this game.

edit: (does this count as still on topic?)

Yep, talking about the effects of cash grab.

Also they are heading in that direction anyway, jump potions is the first step in that. I see mini wars with people that do not know what they are doing anyway, like you try give them advice, and they flame you when they only have 1 job not even 60 yet and a second 15 while the others are ----.

So i am wondering if there is conflict with haste levelers, how does that fair with jump potions?

People are well aware they are not being forced to buy anything from it.
What I don't like about it primarily is; I like to dance around and what not with friends. It's a social game and emotes are a social thing. Then we get stuff like this and then it turns into a situation where it feels like you are missing out because all of the reindeer didn't invite you to their reindeer games, except you could get in it just requires a low down payment of 7 $ each :^) . I wouldn't even be that miffed if they were like 2$ but 7$ is up and over.
