For me, it's just... I've been through a lot of games that have options for people to buy gear (f2p and p2p), and it ruined the game for me. It turned into basically a war between people who bought gear and people who didnt and I wasn't really up for that. Went on to FPS for the longest time, and then my S/O took me back to MMORPG's again, aka FFIXV. I find this game pretty fair and balanced imo compared to what I have encountered in the past, and I wouldn't want to even risk of what might happen if it was pay to win all of a sudden. Besides the whole player conflict, I really like this game.

edit: (does this count as still on topic?)
Yep, talking about the effects of cash grab.

Also they are heading in that direction anyway, jump potions is the first step in that. I see mini wars with people that do not know what they are doing anyway, like you try give them advice, and they flame you when they only have 1 job not even 60 yet and a second 15 while the others are ----.

So i am wondering if there is conflict with haste levelers, how does that fair with jump potions?

You can get the highest ilvl in the game from Scriptures, farming 24man DF content and doing the Anima. Infact the anima is now BiS. None of that requires you to run anything remotely difficult, just put in time.

No you can't because for some jobs, SE does not know how to give real options to secondaries. For some gear it is locked behind raid content.

Also it takes too much time, too much time I have to see toxic raid players and having "casuals" as you call it unable to compete with them on an even field due to way quicker access to gear.

I would not care as much if people where not on a high horse about it

I would be cool if they were more transparent with where this money is going, like how much of it is being funnelled into some Kingdom Hearts DLC instead of this game?

This isn't about pay to win - this is about the erosion of value of our subscription.

Emotes, outfits, hairstyles - these things used to be considered completely under the canopy of "what we already paid for with our subscription". This was baseline - right up there along with new dungeons, new story, and a plethora of other content. But it seems, and Square Enix is not the only one guilty of this, mind you, that this baseline is being shaven away at each time. Where more of the content we used to enjoy is being thrown into the cash shop, leaving us a continually narrowing definition of bare minimum when it comes updates we get from our subscription and playtime alone.

Up until recently (the import of Chinese exclusive items to Mogstation) emotes were not a part of the canopy of Mogstation, unless it was part of an already expired event, in which players had their opportunity to earn it in game first. Now, a core tenant of social interaction - emotes, are becoming progressively more exclusive and shelled out for extra money.

It was BARELY tolerable that Zantetsuken was an exclusive to buying a figurine - but then it actually made marketing sense as the move is signature to the figurine being sold.

"Play Dead" and "Backflip", honestly, are basic things anyone in an immersive environment should be able to do without paying extra for it.

Imagine if macros were paywalled - Or combo indicators - Or the A B an C ground markers. Sure, we don't need them to play the game but they're a part of how we communicate. For as much as this is a combat game, it is also a social venue. And continually slicing away at what value our core subscription gives us does not encourage newer or even veteran players to continue to invest in the game - especially when what little baseline of our content we have is under constant criticism on how bare and unengaging it seems to many players.

This would be more excusable if this was Free to Play. But it's not - and it is personally concerning to me that my subscription continues to provide less and less of a turnaround on investment.

Thank you for the detail explanation!

Although I also want to ask since I'm still a bit puzzled...
If my time is consumed with the physical world, then obviously I can't earn the gear normally by playing if I'm tied. Thus, I would have to buy. The cost for the gear would probably be around the same price as that leveling potion, and that to me is pricey. Not to sound like I know about in depth economics, but I'm just wondering if you can help me understand.

You know if they would show us that these cash shop sells are going into creating new content for us...well than I could maybe accept it a little better. (We dont know this and as a big company all the money that they will get from us are probably going to SE and into other games..) But still even if we would know it, the price still remains as insane. Why not sell it for 1$? If 2k players buy this its still 2k$ and since its a digital good you only have the cost of the production and nothing more..I never understand the thought to make these things expensive. How many more would have bought the two-seater mount if it was half the price?

Well with that decision now they make people angry, quite some will not buy it because its way too expensive for an emote -> not really good for SE.

In the end its really bad if our sub money cant pay for the production because this would mean that we will see more and more of these cash shop items which might mean that people wont even sub anymore or will not start the game -> less money -> more items for CS. This can turn really bad in the future and I am quite sure that even those that are totally fine with it now will have a line where its crossed but then its too late. It would be imo way better to just increase the price of the sub by 1 or 2 $. I would gladly pay a little bit (not 5 per month or something crazy) more and have everything in game than having to see all these items landing in the cash shop..
