And what if you ARE on the same class?
Sorry, 'needing' on an item which is inferior to yours shouldn't be enabled, you don't NEED it you're by definition being GREEDy and games should do anything they can to mitigate player selfishness.
Actually they are saying it's wrong and butt hurt about it. That is why the poster said "automatically removes them from commendation list". Also my reply wasn't an argument either it was a subjective viewpoint from the other side. So not actually sure what you were getting at quoting me.And? You're still perfectly able to roll Need on those things; the person you quoted is just stating their opinion of you for doing so. They're not trying to argue that doing so is wrong, just that they like you less for it. It's a subjective viewpoint.
I personally also do not roll Need for items that are not an upgrade, but I don't sour grapes over people who do. I'd just rather give everyone a fair chance to use said items in the exact same way I would - GC seals, desynth, vendor gil - or possibly even get lucky and score an upgrade for an alt job.
That would take more time I personally wouldn't grind for seals I get them from something I am already doing. When I enter EX roulette/60 I am entering for Lore,Scrips,Desynth and Grand company seals. Once I have enough lore or scrips I wouldn't re-enter for grand company seals or Desynth.
But anyway, re: Needing for GC seals, wouldn't it be so much faster/easier to FATE grind for those? I mean, I don't know how much you can get out of higher end FATEs, or what the conversion rate is for higher gear sets. And I know FATE grinding is a bit mind numbing (although be honest, dungeons aren't often very exciting either). But seems like you could spend 20-30 minutes rolling FATEs, and get as much or more seals as you would from Needing gear. But I could be wrong I guess.
Desynth is still valid, I suppose.
Personally I would rather use my time to do multiple things at once. Same with Fates I would only do them if I wanted to work on another Anima but I would also do hunts, level my chocobo and level a class at the same time.
Although I would like to point out I don't lot on gear below 50 for seals, desynth etc. As I would rather pass to help novices and returning players.

If you want gear for leveling so badly, why don't you craft or buy It for a change instead of simply complaining and thinking your need is superior to others?
Your needs don't outweigh the needs of others. Don't expect randoms to cater to you.
Dear, we don't owe you anything, you either need or pray.
Did you try asking for said gear? Usually if a person asks ahead of time, people are nice enough to pass.I am getting sick and tired of finding a piece of gear I need for one of my Job classes and someone with higher lvl gear who clearly doesn't need it anymore goes and hits the "Need" button anyways and snatches it away!
Higher levels geared players should NOT have the ability to do that and needs to be changed where they have to gamble with their luck through the Greed command like everyone else who's Job class doesn't relate to a certain piece of drop gear in a dungeon.
I know if dungeon gear drops on a class I'm playing, I'm rolling need. My need is always more ventures and doing F.A.T.E.s is inefficient in the sense that I'm only gaining seals and not lore/scripts and a chance at seals. Unless someone asks, I'll keep doing this, but will pass when asked.
You get like, 200 seals per fate. Level 60 gear is worth over 1000 seals per piece.
Because as others have already pointed out, there are more ways to use equipment outside of just wearing it. An item being a physical upgrade for you doesn't make it yours and doesn't make your need greater than the person who wants to use it for glamour or seals. My first 6 months in this game, I would rip into anyone I saw need on something they didn't need, and many (subjectively) others agreed with me. Now, 3 years in, I've just given up. FFXIV players don't have the same outlook as people in other games when it comes to Need/Greed. Not sure why.
But who are you to tell them that they don't need it? Glamour, desynth, and seal exchange are a thing and are no less important than someone wanting to physically wear the equipment.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
