Yeah I've never kicked or seen a kick for low dps.I've never seen anyone in my random DF parties kicked for low DPS / bad gear. People make it seem like it happens all the time when it doesn't.
To the OP: As many have said, ask if you can have certain pieces of gear if you want them that badly. You can't go into a random DF dungeon and expect that all gear drops will go to you because your ilvl is low (whether it be on your current job or an alt job). I pass on 95% of gear that drops in dungeons, anyways, but there are still some pieces I want for glamour and, if I'm on that job at the time, I will roll Need.
Everyone knows it is usability based. The issue is that they don't need it, so why do they get the need option? It's Usability-based. If you can equip it on your class, you can Need, if not you can only Greed. You want gear for a class, go into the dungeon on that class.
Does it suck if someone in i270 Needs on random dungeon gear? Sometimes. But if you really want the gear, run the dungeon as the right class to get it, don't whine and complain.
" You want gear for a class, go into the dungeon on that class."
Sounds like a perfect way to have a bunch of undergeared players make the dungeons take longer than necessary.
This sounds opposite. Currently, they have extra rights to roll on the drops (i.e. a ilvl 270 SMN can roll need on 245 caster items, but no one else can roll need on it). Having it be greed only for them gives them the 'same rights' as the rest of the players. Why shouldn't players who run the content have the same rights of rolling on drops? Those players put in effort too. Sure it's nice if everyone defers to a new player. But enforcing that as a rule seems quite unfair and will certainly reduce the number of players willing to run in DF.
People are hung up the the fact it's called "Need" and not something long the lines of first choice. Healer gear dropped? Okay, the healer gets first call if they want to take it or pass it along to others.
That's all this thread is.
How many of you supporting OP also support people who refuse to take advice in a dungeon or wear incorrect gear to cheese their ilvl? Just wondering. I roll need/greed on everything because i need gc seals . Plus it's my sub i play how I want.
I fail to see the relation? Do you mind elaborating?
they are all the same, they are just there so there is less inv clog
wanting it to use because it is upgrade > glam = seals =desynth > pass
As Kaurie mentioned above, by asking people to go in with the class/job that they need the item for (which is obviously undergeared if they need a dungeon item) you are directly adding a burden on 3 other players.
I have been lucky that most of the groups I had would "greed" by default. And my default choice is always greed. The only cases where I would roll need are:
1. I am with a <60 class and I need a green/pink item for an immediate upgrade
2. it's a lv50 duty (esp. raids) and I need the item for glamour
3. someone in the party has rolled "need" on an item just because they could -I'll be damned if I let their greed score them anything for my job.
I loot gear based on three factors -
1. If I have the same class/job as another player, I check their gear. If I have higher gear, I greed. Not cool to need. Just saying. Your progression for anima, squadron, or crafting, does not equal someone's gear progression. If that player has the same lvl or close to mine, I need all day.
2. If another role needs on any gear, and has high gear for the dungeon, I need all day. Eye for an eye.
3. If another role greeds, and has low or high gear, I greed all day.
My own personal looting depends on the reactions of fellow players. I believe helping others before my own. Also, I still have enough seals for days based on my own personal loot rules.

No. I need seals. We all have the right to need.I am getting sick and tired of finding a piece of gear I need for one of my Job classes and someone with higher lvl gear who clearly doesn't need it anymore goes and hits the "Need" button anyways and snatches it away!
Higher levels geared players should NOT have the ability to do that and needs to be changed where they have to gamble with their luck through the Greed command like everyone else who's Job class doesn't relate to a certain piece of drop gear in a dungeon.
My need is just as great as yours. Buy gear or save tomes like everyone else.
