Stop Giving the "Need" Command for Drop Gear in Dungeons to Higher Geared Players!

At least from my perspective, this is one bizarre deviation from a trend towards otherwise being nicer and more helpful than WoW. While WoW's cultural rules pertaining to loot have become somewhat degraded and more varied over the years due to changes to the rules and the grouping system, originally the generally agreed upon rules were that main spec upgrades took priority over all other gear uses and you should pass or greed if it's not an upgrade in and of itself. Needing to disenchant, vendor, transmog, or for off-spec would generally be frowned upon.

Also I forgot to mention this. That was a big part of the culture in WoW and I played that game for many years, it definitely stuck with me through all this time. Even when I ran my own raid guild and later was a part of others, this was a commonplace rule in everything. That mentality never appeared to develop in this game though, but because of how largely useless and quickly obsolete dungeon drops are compared to WoW, I can understand why.

Truth be told, I'd also rather we'd have more roll options.

Seals (Instant conversion without clogging inventory)
Desynth (Instant Conversion, only available if desynth level is high enough)

Seal option automatically turns into "Pass" if seal cap is reached. Likewise for the other options if the item is already in your possession. That'd be neat >_>

I like this but I think it might be helpful/encouraging to add a partial reward to seal/desnyth and lower the priority to obtaining the item. For example Seal has lower priority than greed, so you wouldn't get the full item if someone else hit greed but you'd still get something, and greed could be renamed to Glamour/Stats if wanted (and perhaps needing can only be done if it's near your item level).

So you could Seal / Desynth every item partialy even if you don't win, like half seals and half desnyth reward. If everyone passes but you then seal/desnyth will be full % rather than partial.

This would be a good to choose as A. you wouldn't feel guilty, as someone who needed it for gear could still get it and B. you don't actually have to win the item, everyone could get partial seal reward if they wanted so it would be wiser to roll seal/desnyth if that's what you wanted it for and other people actually wanted to use it because you would be assured to get something.

This would make: 100% chance for 50% reward or better VS old system: 25% chance or worse for 100% reward - so its statistically better to be honest what you want to use it for.

If you don't make rules to the options I think most people will still behave similarly, and I think adding the roll options is to help encourage people to behave differently

You can't blame them for hitting "Need" for what they entitled to do in so in the game. Obviously there is difference between people actually going to wear it or "use" it for other purpose. I admit I happened to hit "Need" just for GC seal as it is being used to exchange Atma item. If you really want, speak up and ask them politely see if you can have item before they hit "Need". 8/10 times they let me have the item unless they really need one too.

Not seeing how your right to get the loot for a completely different job you're not using beats out their right to roll on something they want. There's a piece of glamour gear I have wanted for about two years and still never managed to have drop. My wife has it, my friend has it; I've run that dungeon countless times trying to get it and failed. If I'm ever running it with someone else, you better believe I'm coming on the appropriate job and Needing on it if I see it - I'll gladly pass on any other treasure. If a high level player is running some easy content and making it quicker for you, you're benefiting from their help and of course they deserve a fair shot at a reward for their time spent.

But talking helps. Talking to your group members, that is, rather than some random people on a forum.
