Stop Giving the "Need" Command for Drop Gear in Dungeons to Higher Geared Players!

Need is for equipping - that's why the Need button is restricted by job/class. Greed is for everything else. If you need for seals or desynth, you are taking advantage of the system in an unfair way and deciding that your want is more important than everyone else's who also want that item for the same thing you do.

Your "etiquette" is not how the system was designed. The system as is gives everyone the opportunity on the job & content they queued for by design.

Proper etiquette is communicating with your party members and all members agreeing to different loot rules. Communicate and mutually agree or go the job you want gear for as that is how it was intended.

Except even if one IS on the job they want gear for, it's possible they will lose their roll to someone who just wants to destroy it for seals or mats. This has happened to me a great number of times.

1) The only instance in which that can occur is when there are two DPS of the same job, which is relatively rare in a dungeon.

2) Even if they win the roll, it's still completely fair and equal, and it doesn't matter one iota what they plan to use it for. Them using it for GC seals or desynthesis or glamour is just as valid and "necessary" as you using it for stats. In fact, it's often more "necessary" for someone using it for purposes other than stats because any dungeon gear used for stats is going to be replaced soon.

It must be really upsetting for you. Here you are, paying your $15 dollars a month and some scrub comes along and steals something from you.
Seriously, please do us all a favor and climb out of yourself.

desipite what you've been told you whole life YOU ARE NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON. The other people in the dungeon are not there to make your life easier. Poor you. Run the dungeon again.

Solution one ; Build your own or group with like minded players and do the gear farming that way.

Solution two ; Reach out to your FC for assistance for someone who will not loot NEED.

Solution three ; Being there is so many people here who can see or agree to your suggestions build a private party on party finder. IT IS NOW CROSS SERVER. / or transfer servers.

Something much simpler: make the "need" option available to everyone.
This goes in line with the people who want to keep rolling "need" too.

I like this. There are a lot of different ways you can go about this other than imposing new rules.

There are also cases where you pass on something so that someone in the group with inferior gear can have it, and then they pass too so it drops to the floor. I think everyone has experienced that at least once, and that's why they get more proactive on rolling if they might actually have a use for the item.

In this case the poster has a level 60 and can easily gear any lower job with HQ marketplace gear, no problem. I would specifically expect them to say if they really wanted something on a different job that I happened to be playing, especially since I'm probably playing that job specifically to get glamour items on it.

Ultimately the responsibility is on the players to talk to one another. I don't think the system should be changed to make players even less communicative than they already are.

I can understand if someone is in this dungeon as their main and need the gear (but then the player can roll on need anyway) but leveling another class is not necessary in this game, you dont need it for the main story since you have your main job for this. So do you truly need it? I mean if someone rolls on it to buy goods for the relic on their main job arent they needing it too because they use it to make themselves stronger? If someone is planning to use a certain piece of armor for glamour and is wearing that glamour long enough isnt that person in greater need than someone that might not even play the other class much or even just switch out the equipment for better ones in the next run?

The ONLY time i "need" things that are a lower ilvl than my level but at max level (as if lower than max level i might want it when leveling another class) is if it is WVR repair so i can desynth. i get enough GC seals as it is so i don't see the point. i'll always greed on gear i can't need though
