Stop Giving the "Need" Command for Drop Gear in Dungeons to Higher Geared Players!

I am getting sick and tired of finding a piece of gear I need for one of my Job classes and someone with higher lvl gear who clearly doesn't need it anymore goes and hits the "Need" button anyways and snatches it away!

Higher levels geared players should NOT have the ability to do that and needs to be changed where they have to gamble with their luck through the Greed command like everyone else who's Job class doesn't relate to a certain piece of drop gear in a dungeon.

It's Usability-based. If you can equip it on your class, you can Need, if not you can only Greed. You want gear for a class, go into the dungeon on that class.

Does it suck if someone in i270 Needs on random dungeon gear? Sometimes. But if you really want the gear, run the dungeon as the right class to get it, don't whine and complain.

Are you aware we have a glamour system? Have you considered they might be running the dungeon for the express purpose of getting said item for glamour? Also, are you aware you can turn in those items for GC seals, which everyone can use? Or desynthesis?

If you are not playing the role of a piece of gear, and they are, then they are entitled to need on it. If you don't like the chance that someone else will get a piece of gear you want, then don't run the dungeon with randoms. Do it with friends who will let you have the item or ask your random group beforehand.

Why shouldn't players who run the content have the same rights of rolling on drops? Those players put in effort too. Sure it's nice if everyone defers to a new player. But enforcing that as a rule seems quite unfair and will certainly reduce the number of players willing to run in DF.

    Ääähm... no.
Even if its not an upgrade, I do NEED those gearpieces, sorry - desynth, GC-seals, retainer, glamour... I might be playing the class I'm playing ONLY because I want a certain piece of gear for it. And if I cant roll need because my ilvl is to high, guess what I'll do - correct, just equip some lowlevel gear.

The game offers a variety of ways to gear up, dungeon-gear isnt really needed - its nice as a placeholder, but thats about it.
I would try to ask if people could pass on certain pieces for you because its an upgrade instead of changing the roll-commands.

Truth be told, I'd also rather we'd have more roll options.

    Stats
    Glam
Seals (Instant conversion without clogging inventory)
Desynth (Instant Conversion, only available if desynth level is high enough)

Seal option automatically turns into "Pass" if seal cap is reached. Likewise for the other options if the item is already in your possession. That'd be neat >_>

And how would the priority be? Is my desynth-roll more important than your seal-roll? If an item is the same ilvl than the one your currently wearing and you're rolling for stats and I roll for glamour - who gets it?

That's pretty silly. Play on the job you need that gear for. duh.

No, but I would accept a personal loot system like the one used by WoW.

At least from my perspective, this is one bizarre deviation from a trend towards otherwise being nicer and more helpful than WoW. While WoW's cultural rules pertaining to loot have become somewhat degraded and more varied over the years due to changes to the rules and the grouping system, originally the generally agreed upon rules were that main spec upgrades took priority over all other gear uses and you should pass or greed if it's not an upgrade in and of itself. Needing to disenchant, vendor, transmog, or for off-spec would generally be frowned upon. On the other hand, in this game it's basically need everything you can forever without a second thought and people would rather have some gil or whatever than let another player upgrade a piece of gear.
