It was a joke, because you're implying that Ifrit isn't endgame as "there isn't an endgame because it's a MMO, the game can never end." Or was it that "the basic structures for endgame aren't set so Ifrit isn't endgame." If Ifrit isn't endgame, then what is? He drops level 50 gear.

Five thousand free XP on a crafting class is no joking matter.

We will see limited content and certain changes plain old wont happen, which is why im personally not happy with them wanting people to pay pre-2.0. Its just asking for people to quit on them and for news to pick it up and give it a worse rep for charging when its clearly still broken.
    Wait what?

    1. Wipe achievements, and have the new achievements for all of the old major NM/Dungeons significant (granting rewards of some kind) to encourage people to redo them with the new combat system.
    2. Eliminate personal loot lists on Primal fights.
    3. Introduce a few high level NM's dropping relevant gear.

Endgame would instantly be 100% better than it is currently.

There is still time for them to do this before we start paying, or at least right after (holiday 1.20a patch?).
Now explain to me what the hell the servers have to do with any of that.

it doesn't have anything to do with that, but its a dream if you think they WILL do it. The server thing was a separate second thought about content in general.

If the dungeons were repeatable quests and gave exp (god forbid maybe even seals) after every success like Ifrit does then i would be more inclined to keep doing them. Ifrit is a great source of EXP for crafting and gathering classes from the upper 30s on, and is much more fun than sitting there spamming standard synthesis. I found the Darkhold to be fun but I like many other ppl got the majority of gear from it before Ifrit came out. Now i find it hard to justify going back to do it again with absolutely nothing to gain when i could be gaining exp on some other class instead.

It would also be nice if each new thing did not completely negate all of the old stuff. Save for a few pieces (Warlock's Pattens? but even then only for lolnuking), the Darkhold has completely obsolete gear. Yes, new content should have some of the best gear....but not all of it. What i hope happens is that the Moogle fight drops awesome mage weapons and maybe one or 2 melee weapons that are the best, while some of Ifrit's weapons still remain the best for other classes. That way there could still be demand to do both. But hey, this is SE we're talking about. Since when do they do smart things like that?

moogle staff: +15 critical hit rate/resist and additional damage = sad mages XD

or it would be funny for them to do the opposite and bone the melee with like +15 magic acc on everything.

    Thinking about it just now:

There is a way to refresh old content to be 'worthwhile' as the original poster said. It'd be a tremendous slap to the casual player, who isn't looking to run the same NMs every week for a year. But, obviously if you renewed old content to be relevant, you run into the issue that there is then too much gear. People can run the 'easiest' dungeon and be fully geared, while someone assuming the challenge gets.. the same level of gear. I've seen games break gear into parts, here's some Caster gear on this optional boss, here's primarily damage dealing gear in this optional whole area, but most people skip it, cause one or two people needing something, or 'possibly' getting an upgrade is insignificant to the raid's whole progress. [Ignore the use of raid, my vocabulary hasn't adjusted to 'Full Party' as of yet. >>]

But, the only method to make everything worthwhile that I can think of, would be to make it not just worthwhile, but each place or NM something you MUST do, to ever get a good piece of gear for that slot. Make crafted pieces a step behind the dropped gear, so that new 50s, and people who aren't getting their drops aren't too far behind. But, this whole process means that pretty much one drop of every armor-class, and role, must drop from each NM/Dungeon/Raid, and only one may drop be it a five minute respawn, or a weekly ifrit.

Screw the Casual Player from ever having much chance to be the best (The original point of FFXIV, to ensure the Casual gets as much as the Hardcore)

Force more end-game content (I've fought the NMs.. it's boring after two months of fighting them.. But, at least we'd have something boring to do.. I'd personally prefer going back for fun, but that's me)

Demeans crafters (Crafted gear shouldn't be the 'best', but then again, Crafters have big heads in this game, so y'know, go nerf 'em, maybe Tig, Paka, and Niesh will get back to excelling in other ways.)

I would be curious to hear other people's problem solving methods though, pros and cons of course. >> Seeing another's perspective isn't as refreshing if you have to analyze it, cause they think their opinion is the golden answer, no flaws, no one suffers, not even fools.
