Hey all,

Got some Chocobo questions.

How can I change my Chocobo companions color?
Yes. I highly recommend using ffxivchocobo.com to get the colour you'd like. You just need to use a Chocobo Stable (via FC housing, personal housing or apartment). The items it's telling you to use can by obtained via gardening or, if you're lazy like me, on the market board. It can get pricey.

I haven't for the life of me figured out how I can use his abilities manually.
Open up the companion menu and select the skills tab. Here you click on the skills you wish you obtain. They can only be selected in order (left to right). I highly suggest you focus on one role: DPS/TANK/HEAL depending on what you play most. You also obtain a new 'outfit' for the chocobo per each role once you have levelled all the skills in that role.

To get more points to level your skills up, you need to level your chocobo up. Check the challenge log for quicker ways!

Increasing Choco rank above 10, must i have a FC for this?
No. You can get an apartment and use the stable there. But joining an FC is cheaper for you if they have a house already.

To take it past 10 you'll need a thavnairian onion. You can get one in 2 quests (check xivdb.com) or via the Market Board. You'll need 1 thavnairian onion per level past 10. You'll need to fill the XP bar to use an onion again.

Is barding purely aesthetics?

Yes. It's about making your chocobo look FABULOUS!

I understand you can have more than 1 racing chocobo, where can I get more?

This place will give you all the information you'll need for chocobo racing and breeding. However the idea with racing is that it's a seperate chocobo to your companion chobo and that once you reach max level with it, you retire it and breed it to make a stronger chocobo (like FF7).
