My statement of there never being a dialogue meant that, I haven't once had someone ask me nicely to stop. I've had people just without words stop healing me, then after death say "That's why you let the tank pull".

Yes and thats what you deserve when you dont let the tank pull, geez, man, you said you've been playing MMos for more than 15 years so we can assume that you're older than 15 - why dont you act like it and begin the dialouge yourself by asking "Hey, I think we can go a little faster, how about pulling more?" instead of dictating your group what YOU want to do?
Nice that YOU havent wipe from this yet, but this game isnt only about YOU - its also about the other people in the dungeon. And honestly: healer and tank have to pick up the extra stuff that you pulled, the weight is more on them than it is on you. It might be stressful for them and for sure its annoying.

...and its still not your place as dps to do that - I'm amazed that you havent learned from your experience in the DF yet.

But again: Yes, speedrunning becomes a thing in endgame-dungeons. You're not in endgame-dungeons. You're in leveling dungeons. And even in endgame-dungeons its not your place to pull when you have a little red icon and not a blue one.

Not the DPS's place to do that, healers and tanks can have MP and TP management issues so might want to wait on that before the next pull.

FFXIV is more stuck up on player roles generally. If you come from a game where there are no clearly defined roles like NCSoft's "Aion" or "Blade & Soul" where in normal dungeons roles matter shit, I can see why it can be hard to get used to.

One of the better and helpful answers here. Thanks for making a distinction in differences of roles, that in ff14 it matters much more compared to Aion or B&S. Especially in a game like aion, where a GS sorc can tank through a lot of bosses (and duo it) with a decent healer. That's true too, next time I can ask at the beginning if it's okay to play that way.

Replies like "go roll tank" "that's not your job" are not helpful in changing one's mindset guys.

If they were able to hold a dialogue to come to an understanding, I'd be okay with the situation. But these kids can't take any words whatsoever that go against their style of play.

Well...to be honest it seems you also cannot take any criticism that goes against your style of play either.

You've been kicked several times due to the same behavior....isn't it upon you now to understand that most of the community seems unhappy with a DPS pulling mobs instead of the tank? Yet...you keep doing it?

These groups have given you indirect criticism about your play style and from what I've seen most of the community frowns on people pulling on non-tank jobs...so idk maybe accept it and change your ways or accept the fact you might get kicked often?

I understand your point about the groups not just asking you to stop first, but as others have pointed out you also could ask first.

Since you got kicked several times for the same behavior and you are aware it is that behavior that is getting you kicked...you technically did get a message telling you to stop. So maybe just stop doing it? From my experience most groups pull pretty fast anyway.
