more like a mix of high fantasy and steampunk, with a pinch of Clarke's third lawThe term you're looking for is "high fantasy". FFXIV is not medieval.
Also I really really really do not like all of the DLC preorder bullshit that FFXIII-2 is getting. I've already the CE preordered on amazon, but cheaping people out of that omega fight from the final product is a low blow. Costumes and such are fine as DLC, but christ, why in the world would you strip an iconic enemy from the game for DLC. That's something capcom would do.
I think the point is, that Assassin's Creed has NOTHING to do with Final Fantasy. Cloud Strife in tactics was completely acceptable because it is still a Final Fantasy game.As long as it doesn't cause my character's hair to disappear while worn, I wouldn't object.
and to everyone who's bitching about how this is disgraceful or immoral, I would point out that game, anime, and other popular media do shout outs all the time. If you played Fable 2, did you complain about the presence of "Hal's Armor"? Or maybe Old Snake's Altier costume in MGS4? Perhaps you screamed bloody murder when you found Cloud Strife in Final Fantasy Tactics?
Nicloe-456 in DoA3?
Hayabusa Armor in Halo?
Kingdom Hearts in general?
Kingdom Hearts is a combination of Final Fantasy and Disney. And now with the new Dream Drop Distance trailer it seems we are getting another character from TWEWY. I personally have never played the game (TWEWY) but, it is still a Square Enix game. So, its fine.
So?, how does Ninja Gaiden fit into the Halo universe? Or Halo fit into Fable or DoA? I think you missed my point completely.I think the point is, that Assassin's Creed has NOTHING to do with Final Fantasy. Cloud Strife in tactics was completely acceptable because it is still a Final Fantasy game.

I would also point out the NPC Linken in WoW that gives you a series of quests that only the most non-genre savvy would fail to realize are one big Zelda homage.
As I said before, developers aren't beyond homaging or giving shoutouts to other media, and it's been going on since the NES days, and probably earlier than that.
Its just aesthetics, there's other ways to introduce unique gear than to break reality for the sake of a cheap gimmick.
@Vanguard319, congratulations, you've grasped the "We should do it because everyone else does" argument, I would like to bring up to you the fact that there are people jumping off a bridge right now somewhere.
Well, it look better than any of the current Cowl we have, and since they not need much work to transfer this data to FFXIV.
FFXIV : ARR all instance boss gameplay video can be found here..

SE has atleast 20 years worth of costumes they can use withen all there worlds of vidego games i sure they can do better than that, they could even take model designs for items and weapons from FFXI and the rest of the series, hopfully not the starwars clone FF titles.
This is a fictional world, have to come to terms that some things will not be realistic. For example: Magic, Chocobos, Moogles, every beastmen you see.Its just aesthetics, there's other ways to introduce unique gear than to break reality for the sake of a cheap gimmick.

Putting something entertaining in once in a while never hurts.
I liked The Witcher 2's portrayal of Assassin's Creed, and I'm not a fan of the AC series. Crossovers don't really bother me at all.
However, I really don't care to see this outfit in FFXIV. XIII-2 is fine, because people who want to see it can, and it's better than that awful default outfit. But Yoshida is working on XIV, and he's actually good. So yeah.
Blue Mage class -> Assassin Job.
Thats the Job-specific equipment.
Requires Hidden Blade weapons, and dual-wield of them too!
