    People need to get real about Duty Finder queues.



    It ain't exactly raining duties here for dps.

    Adding a new tank job isn't going to make more people suddenly play tank. Even all the cool aesthetics of a DRK didn't help the tanking situation.


    SE needs to fix the role of tanking first before they think about adding new jobs.

    The problem is there is a disconnect between what some people perceive a tank should do and what others want the tank to do. DPS gives a feeling of power because you can take down enemies fast (which is pretty much universally liked), while being able to soak damage is less popular. Until you can bridge the gap between people being cool with offensive type tanks (see the WAR haters), SE cannot risk adding an extremely popular class like SAM as a tank because it is better known for dishing out damage rather than absorbing it.

    Honestly, there is nothing to fix.

    You cannot "fix" that people are innately drawn to certain fantasies and gameplay more than others. You can only observe it and change the game accordingly. If you constantly have DPS waiting in the queue, you simply add DPS slots to the group until DPS no longer have large wait times - done. And even adjusting the dungeon isn't a big issue in that case, because you really just need to up HP to compensate for the larger damage. If you got surplus healers you just have mobs deal more damage. Only a tank surplus is hard to solve automatically.

    I can agree with that sentiment to a point. Yes, adding a tank could help the queue times for a period of time. It does not fix the problems at endgame where certain jobs are not wanted, like AST for most of HW. People leveled it, the meta became lolAST, and then that died.

    A poorly balanced tank, would do the same.

    The issue will always be that people don't want responsibility in a group setting. That's why they gravitate away from tanks and healers. There's no fixing that.

    I don't think it's a complete lost cause. Sure it's not something that SE can fix. That's up to the community to try to fix, and to start, we need to look at WHY people don't want responsibility in a group setting.

    Laziness. Why worry about having people rely on you for something when it's easier to just do your rotation (and even that is too hard for lots of people)?

    I wont say its simply laziness. Tanking is truly intimidating for a lot of people.

    Its not that I don't like tanking because I'm lazy.

    I don't like tanking because I'd rather not be the sole reason we fail at any given dungeon or trial.

    Because people want to be lazy and they can get away with pushing 1 2 3 in a group setting on dps 90% of the time.
