Server-Wide Chat Channel

I saw this in the XI forums and thought it would be good to see what XIV players think. Some of you will probably say "this isn't WoW, we don't need it" but you can't deny that it's a good feature. Getting people for a leve group more easily, getting to know others (not just LS people or people shouting in one area), getting an SP pt together more easily (at least until they fix the search), quests and selling/repairing stuff. Sure, you can check the wards for selling/repairing but sometimes they just don't have the item you're looking for.

For the people who don't like it there could always be a filter option and to reduce spam they could have a shouts/minute limit or some sort of (light) penalty. For example if RMT start shouting and spam too much they could be penalized for it and be unable to shout for a certain period of time.

Imo it would get people to know the server more because from what I've seen (on Bodhum at least) it's usually very quiet in towns and it kinda makes it feel empty.

I think that something like that wouldn't be a bad idea but rather then have it filtered from your chat window I would imagine it would need a seperate window all together that could be closed or opened whenever you wanted.

Could have it as an extra tab in the chat window, just like battle.

I think this would be a pretty cool feature, it could just be in a seperate chat log that you have to pull up from the menu, so that way its not in the way or flooding your chat log with alot of talking.

If it was an optional window and/or filterable I wouldn't be completely opposed to the idea. But I personally do not think I would ever use it.

We don't run cross-server instances, you can't trade with someone on another server, nor party, etc.. I don't think it would be something they would consider honestly.

I am in favor of a public chat channel that can be toggled on or off.

I am in favor of multiple public chat channels that people can create that anyone can join without requiring an item.

I am in favor of player-created public chat channels costing a large amount of gil to create.

It could be like battle where its [Chat][Battle][Server] in the log or something.

As long as it has it's own tab and/or window or can be turned on/off I wouldn't mind it being in the game... they had this in Aion and it was mostly used for stupid stuff, people insulting one another and being childish, or RMT spamming so I never used it and I'm not a huge fan of it.
