Transferring an alt to a different server

I think I should start this thread by saying yes, I know you can do everything on one character in this game and I know the cost is $18. But recently I've been considering sending an alt to either Cactar or Jenvoa. I'd like to see what the other servers are like and although there have been posts about transferring items between character via FC chests, I never found it necessary, since each character is rather separate in each of their activities. I've looked into what I have to do before I transfer over, such as not have things in market board, have no friends on friend's list, have no linkshells, I must be offline, and have only 1mil gil on you and 300000 on each retainer. But what else would it effect? Will my story progress, dungeon unlocks, Gold Saucer cards, items, and other things be safe as this happens?

This pretty much covers everything it will and won't affect. Pretty much if it's character data and not tied to the world (like an LS/FC/friends list/estate), it will be preserved.

All these things listed will be safe, unless by 'card' you mean 'tickets'.

The following will not be transferred along with your character:
Friend lists
Blacklists
Linkshells
* Transferred characters will be removed from linkshells automatically.
Free Companies
* The World Transfer Service cannot be used for characters enlisted in a free company. Please make sure your character is not a member of a free company before using this service.
Housing
* Ownership must be relinquished before World transfer is made possible.
Scores from currently entered Triple Triad tournaments
Scores from Lord of Verminion tournaments
Jumbo Cactpot tickets purchased prior to World transfer
* Any tickets purchased will be lost upon transferring.
