1 Housing Plot Per Account (not character) Solves Housing Crisis

As someone with multiple characters, yes to this.

Made a post in the housing forums once. 'Why is the Warrior of Light Homeless?' You'd think by now that they'd have been given a home or something. Might even be a nice way to tie in a player's starting nation as a choice aside from what class they chose to start with. Picked Gridania? Get a nice lake-side plot of land in the Twelveswood. Chose Ul'dah? Your own private oasis. Selected Limsa Lominsa? A private island, or cove. Progress so far in the MSQ (probably the end of 2.0), a side MSQ quest opens up where you get an audience with the leader of one of the three nations and are granted your land for your personal home. It'd probably be easier to add a private instanced housing space for Ishgard than a whole housing ward too, which would resolve a lot of people's frustration with no Ishgard Housing Ward.

I dont' dislike the idea, but I don't like it either, I doubt limit one house per account will help much. Besides more wards I doubt there is another way.

1 house per account on a server which is by default shared between all of your characters on that server.
Obviously not a perfect solution but it would be a start

that'd be awful for roleplaying purposes. for one, why would you have the same style of house across all your characters? for two why does this one character have 39 roommates who never meet

I think a story related housing would be awesome. Going back to Aion, I think this was the case they had in mind. The lore isn't as fleshed out as XIV but in short, you're part of an armed force and in addition to serving your... chunk of the planet? (lolidunno politics) you are given housing for doing as such. I mean, I'm quite positive if the WoL so much as sneezed in House Fortempts or Aymeric's presence, they would practically fall over themselves to get you a mansion with servants.

yeah why can't it just be one private house per account that's alt friendly? then additional housing paid through a monthly subscription if they are that much in dire need of extra houses for no reason then people will be less inclined to buy multi houses and where is the auto house demo we were promised i see houses that are private yet you never see them around or fc houses that are dead yet fc still keeps house

I think the OP & Vexander have it right. Each account should have one house for all the Alts on the same server. If Alt is on a different server, then they should be able to get another house.

Vexander's idea of a city state hooking it up with a piece of property for being their saviors is another great idea. For those who can't get a regular house in a neighborhood could at least have their private little land to call their own.

Or SE could just implement instanced personal housing rather than add on more housing wards. Everyone has a large plot of land, and can build a small, medium, or large house there depending on how much they want to invest in it, if at all. Everyone would have their own garden, their own chocobo stables, and they could still get a private room in an FC house if they wanted to, make use of FC stables if they liked.

My dream :3... SE graphics on an improved Wildstar system, making my own island, farm, chocobo paradise, airship w.e.. Omg.. lol. I would justify small expansion money on a housing change like that (housing expansion, adds 5 hours of quests and an extremely customizeable void in the heart of Hydaelyn to call your own!). An instanced system would add so many new possible customizations.

As for the OP idea, yes - this should have been done such a LONG time ago with the big servers and one of the largest forum flames that we've ever seen. Just make sure you add something like 1 house per account & 1 FC house account, with the addition that FC houses require active players (give someone a few months to fix the issue, but like if you're in a solo FC and you own a personal house as well - thats not the purpose of a FC house). Per server is probably a better way to describe the issue, so I'll use that now. However I wish people could own as many houses as they wanted, but we NEED an instance system for that (people throwing gil into the pit is great for economy, we should let people spend as much as possible into gil gobbling services~).
