Don't know much about PLD but I do tank, and I can say for sure they were at fault. Usually when I'm tanking mobs, boss etc... I usually make sure I have a firm grip on enmity/aggro (whatever term floats your goat), above all else, and then dish out the dps (whatever I can).

The PLD was mostly at fault. It seemed that he didn't flash, Circle of Scorn, and/or sheltron shield swipe, which is why he lost a lot of hate.

Also, mostly Quelling Strikes isn't useful, but should be used in case you're almost gonna steal hate, though most of the time it's for raid times, since BLM' s opener (at least my static's) tend to generate a lot if Tanks aren't preparing their aggro rotations. IF you also have a ninja with ya they can shade ya and smokescreen BLM to help tanks keep aggro some. They mostly don't smokescreen if tanks are good at keeping hate and 99% at the time BLMs aren't at top of the aggro list, but it still helps.

Unless the DPS is attacking something the tank isn't fighting, it's on the tank.

Depends. If you've got a new gladiator in low level content who's doing his job the best he can, it's on the DPS. Every other situation in this game is on the tank because it's pretty simple to get a good aggro lead

In that situation, completely the tanks fault.

I hope you reported them for misuse of the vote kick function.
And possibly harassment depending on how those conversations went...

The instance that the OP was inquiring about was a higher lv dungeon where everything gets aoe'd the tank needs to use their aoe enmity ablilities to hold aggro on everything, the tank in that party wasn't using those abilities.

But yes in lower lv dungeons the dps need to watch their dps and make sure they're attacking the same mob as the tank. Although if the tank is good even in the lower lv dungeons it doesn't matter what the dps attacks the tank will hold aggro.

This looks like an essay. But yeah if it is in a high lvl dungeon, and the tank wasn't using all his/her AOE attacks, then it is the tank's fault. Although I noticed, sometimes, when the tank doesn't have good gears and the DPS and both DPS are attacking different mobs, the tank might have problems to keep one mob or the other.

I don't think aggro matters much in low level. I've been leveling monk and getting the early dungeons a lot, doesn't seem to matter if I pull one enemy. The low level thing I've run into is tanks over pulling and new healers not being ready for it.

Um, no. In a raid, if the mt is a dark knight, it's a dps loss for them to use power slash, so as a warrior, if i'm about to rip aggro I wont use butchers block because if I rip hate, it's then my fault. If the healers aren't using shroud at all and they rip hate, it's their fault because they're not using their aggro-preventative abilities to stop themselves from ripping hate. Ninjas should be using shadewalker and smoke screen as much as possible and everyone else should be using their preventative abilities.

it's called working as a team by the using of all your utility.

the only class that has an excuse to rip hate is monk as they don't have shade, smoke, quelling, shroud, elusive jump etc. #deletemonk
