Relic 3.0 hand in for Relic 4.0 idea - Saving the Anima

So while we dont know for certain that we will get a "skip" for the 4.0 relic just for having the 3.0 relic, but I had an idea which lorewise might solve the problem a lot of people seem to have about handing over their living weapon to skip a stage.

Basically the entire plot of the 3.0 Anima Weapon is that Rowena wants a new high end weapon to mass produce and make a mint on, and with the ilvl270 Anima weapon we have conformation that they can now basically make as many as they want whenever they want. So my thought is this, what if step 1 of Relic 4.0 rewards you with the 270 Anima weapon but without the special "flame/aether" effect, so a mass produced version of the same weapon, but without the flashy effects and all the amazing stats you would have from the hard work (so statwise similar to what the replicas you can buy now have).

From this point we continue on to the second step where you begin enhancing and making a new tier of weapon, either with your Anima Spirit still inside (so like in the story he will continue to grow with you) or you start with a fresh new one which you never got the chance to bond with.

The only difference these could have is that you would skip step 1 and maybe get a little bit of story where you speak to the spirit and talk about getting stronger or whatever wheras a new player would just recieve a less cool weapon and either have a none talking spirit, or they bond with it quickly, I dont know but I'm sure you get the idea.

Do you think this would work though? I see it as a way of not only physically rewarding people for all the grinding and hard work, but would also mentally reward those (like myself) who became very invested in the story and would never destroy the Anima just to save a bit of time if that lead to it being gone forever.

TLDR: Trade in 3.0 relic to put Anima in 4.0 starting relic instead of "buying" a mass produced Anima replica and starting fresh.

Once/if we hand in Anima for 4.0 relic, she/he is already no longer completely bound to the weapon but rather to a minion you get at the end of the 270 quest. So as far as I understand the request, I don't really think it's needed: also we don't know how Eureka is going to be handled at all.

I have seen a lot of lore buffs arguing about whether or not the minion could house the Anima without the weapon.

It basically comes down for that to how you interperate "your spirit can be channeled into this new, physical form.", but thats a different topic alltogether.

The point still remains that in the story the Anima WANTS to get stronger, it WANTS to help you and keep doing that forever, and besides that be it just a little wrap up text or be is an allusion to future things to come they do hint at the Anima with you going "to see distant lands" which would certainly make sense with the new information revealed for 4.0.

Again though this is just speculation and I am just thinking about how if they really wanted to they could continue rather than just destroy and move on like they did with the opening of the Anima.

That's not how it works. The Anima's soul is still housed in the Soulstone in the Weapon. That hasn't changed. It can just use the minion body over long distances so even if the WoL doesn't have their weapon with them they can still commune with their Anima. The reason for this is the minion houses the Anima's old soulstone and the Anima still has a connection to its former 'body' and is thus able to 'telegraph' itself through the minion.

The weapon is still the Anima's body. That's the whole reason we went to such lengths to make it in the last step. We needed a body that could take any future growth of the Anima's power.

While a lot of people may argue this fact (though I do agree) you said something VERY important there "further growth", technically we are getting a ilvl275 addition that barely constitutes major growth, especially for how much work we had to go through to make it possible.

Oh I am not disagreeing that the 4.0 Anima may be us further growing our existing anima rather than replacing it. Im just saying that our Anima needs its body to survive. If we get a new weapon chances are it would involve transferring the Anima to the new body. This might have become easier but I suspect that at the end of the day it still needs a vessel to house its Aetheric power. Its not like the Anima has the echo.

Simple idea I have is the 4.0 relic starts with u eather a) gather a ton of strong aether to craft an AI-Soulstone to power it or b) transfer the Anima to the new weapon in the same way we have done twice in 3.0 (thus skipping the gathering Aether part) at lest with option B its less devestating then them going the way our "skip" phase was in 3.0 (destroy/convert weapon to make Item u could have grinded fates for)

What some see as "distracted" is really "fathoming the unfathomable" - last words from an Ul'dahn Mercurial Chemister at the battle of Carteneau

If the anima weapon thing does become successfully marketable I wouldn't be surprised if in 4.x the process in making an anima weapon is streamlined and the first step for people new to it is to basically attune to a freshly made one. Since it will probably use a new model there will probably be a process where the Anima goes through a body change though to supplement whatever further growth that is planned for the weapon. After all, its the Soulstone which was the key to stabilising the anima's future growth.

Really I'm more annoyed that all the stat customization that we do for weapons like the anima get wasted for what amounts to a "5% off coupon" on the new weapon. That to me is more disappointing than anything else. And if I still have the anima "to talk to it", wouldn't I want to be able to talk to it? Will I still be able to in 4.0, or is it going to be as mute and silent as all the other weapons I have? Cause that kinda defeats the point.

    GUTTLER WANT BLOOD!

Hey, just because a weapon can talk, doesn't mean it has anything worthwhile to say. XD

Anyway, the weapon trade-in thing never bothered me. Or, at least, it didn't bother me any more than the short lives of ANY kind of equipment in this game does. I fully expect our Anima weapons to, yet again, be nothing more than 5% taken off a new weapon that we'll have to build new stat specializations for.

As for Lore, I expect that this time there'll be some kind of throwaway line of attaching the anima's soul to the new weapon or something that will otherwise have no effect on the development of the new weapon.
