No I am not doing roulettes as they take too much time to que up as a dps. I am not doing hunting logs and challenges since they bore me to no end. These things are side things. Things you do when you don't want to quest around or when you are done at max level in my opinion. And the whole thing about levequests and the other side things it is just too much to stay on top of as a new player. I kind of feel that you should not be given a level wall and restriction so that you can do the other things and feel mandatory. The whole freedom is gone at that point.

What freedom? It might not be obvious, but most of the game is pretty much run on rails. Everything is gated by the MSQ. Everything is gated by level.
You are supposed to do a little bit of everything as you level up, not just focus on the main story.

Awe, /petpet. Unfortunately that's just the way the game works. We all went through it too. XD I think it was worse for us, though.Didn't MSQs get an EXP boost? Or is that still coming? Roulettes really don't take that long (15 min wait for DPS during busy times), just have some patience and enjoy the opportunity to meet and play with new people. Join a friendly FC with tanks that will go with you. Or I guess you can play something else, but you'll miss out on a great game, and any other MMO will be just as grindy unless it's one of those ones with a pay-to-jump option or pay-for-more-exp.

Also just a side note: but there needs to be a level wall lol, I don't see how they might remove it, do you? I most certainly would not enjoy getting into Haukke Manor (a level 28 dungeon), and get stuck with someone who is level 18 because all they've done is power through the main story quests LOL.

The problem with this way of thinking is that all these side things will be completely irrelevant if you put them off that long. The hunting log alone is ridiculously easy, and a substantial exp boost early on. Many times, you can even combine hunting with FATE grinding, if you know a mob also spawns with a FATE somewhere (which comes with the additional bonus of they're usually lower level/weaker, on top of the FATE reward). The challenge log does scale with your level, but it also resets every week; not hitting a few of those is just throwing exp away, and, again, it's stuff you're probably already doing to begin with, at least with FATEs (hell, you might even already be doing that without even noticing). Battle levequests aren't incredibly substantial, but at least they take about 5 minutes each, and if you're lucky, you'll pick up a few nice pieces of gear doing them. And if you can't tolerate leves, chances are you won't much care for beast tribe quests when you get to them, another alternate source of leveling (and a good early source of tomes of poetics for big gear upgrades when you hit 50, imo).

Fact is, if you're avoiding queuing for dungeons or guildhests (quicker, sometimes easier, still some challenge log bonuses you can complete with those), then you better be prepared to grind like hell. And if you're going to avoid other sources of exp on top of that, you're just making life difficult for yourself. You can run dungeons for big exp, or you can grind everything else to slowly get you up, but you can't just expect to ding by idling.

One last bit of advice, though, that hasn't been brought up, is rested bonus. Are you logging out while in town (or any other aetheryte zone)? The more time you spend with the little moon next to the exp bar, the more bonus exp you can accumulate, represented by the blue segment of the exp bar. It might not be significant or really noticeable, but again, it's free exp.

Also, and you're already over 30 so this isn't applicable anymore, but did you run the Hall of the Novice around level 15? It's another side thing you might've ignored, but one of the rewards was a decent ring accessory, which also grants 30% bonus exp while you're under level 30, which maybe could've kept you from hitting a wall until that stopped working.

Tools are there, just gotta use them.

Also, on behalf of the game, I'll apologize for that ridiculous set of fetch quests leading up to Titan. Pretty sure everyone agrees that needs to be cut down a lot, and nobody enjoys slogging through it. Unfortunately, there's several points in the MSQ that are similar, doing a series of small things that just feel like a waste of time, but, they're all chunks of exp at least, and often offer gear which is probably meant to keep you somewhat relevant.

The thing is that there are lots and lots of different side things, and you can pick from any of them to get what little extra XP you need. That's not making any of them individually mandatory. You need to do something but the choice of what is up to you. If the MSQ alone took you all the way, that wouldn't leave the option of doing much else without ruining your main story. Most players want to do at least a bit of the other things the game has to offer.

I actually find that, for my playstyle (which includes wanting to do most of those side things), they've gone a bit too far the other direction, with XP coming so fast that I'll drastically over-level content if I'm not careful. So on my latest alt I'm leveling multiple classes in tandem, because I need to alternate between them in order to avoid over-leveling so much. (Admittedly, that's more of an issue during the first 20 or 30 levels than it is later, when leveling starts slowing down. But over-leveling issues can still happen later if, for instance, you want to keep re-running a dungeon until you get its best loot.)

There is a level gap in the main story between level 46 and 49, but there are two optional dungeons around there (Dzemael Darkhold at 44 and Aurum Vale at 47). A run through each of those should cover the gap. (And if you get lucky on loot drops, Dzemael Darkhold can drop the BiS shirts for levels 44-49 for DoM or damage dealer DoW.) Plus, the ARR beast tribe quests open up between levels 41 - 44, so those will be available and not likely maxed out yet.

The leveling roulette does not take an hour, I'm sure of that. Queuing for a random dungeon might take that long, but the leveling roulette is far more active. The leveling roulette should always keep you above story quests requirements. I've never done one single sidequest in my life, except for class quests. I just did: leveling roulette + all the guildhests once for the xp boost + hunting log.
