The whole leveling experience of a new player... is this?

    Hello everyone.
Some say that what I am experiencing is not normal, other say that it is normal and the rest advise to contact Support.
So here is my issue :
Ever since I got over about level 15, I experienced contast level walls and stops in my main story quest.
I have logged over 50+ hours of constant game play time (after removing the afk hours).
I do the story quest chain and I always end up under leveled and hitting the level wall for the next story quest. Mind you I am also doing some or most of the side quests.
It's gotten so bad, that I am currently level 32 and after starting the next main story quest after the lvl32 wall, I ended up being at 30% of my exp bar and not being able to continue with the story quest. This constant abruption is really turning my experience into hell. Most people are telling me that this should not happen.
In the end is this thing normal? Or am I not doing something right?
    Thank you in advance.

Don't forget to do leveling roulette whenever you can! Running any of the last story dungeon should also give you a level. Grinding FATEs helps too or just running Palace of the Dead in quarrymill a couple of times.
    Hope it helps you some!

I am mostly doing fates to grind out the exp. Duty and dungeons are out of the question since my que time is over 1 hour and most of the times I don't find anything at my level.

To be honest, I kind of feel that something is wrong as grinding for hours at lvl 30ish is pretty ridicculus.

Change your setting to join party in progress, or you can try Palace of the Dead if you don't want to do other suggestion I posted. Also you will be doing a lot of dungeons. Other option is to form a rotating static or request help from FC. Last resort, hire a tank. Also for fate grinding, its nice if you like to run around or as a down time while waiting for queue, but only really find it effective if your in a very large group.

Grinding fates is going to take you forever. 3-4 mobs in a level relevant dungeon gives about the same exp as one fate.

Overall it seems about right, as long as your doing the main story, dungeons as a daily, maybe the challenge log on fates and dungeons you should be fine. If your doing just main story , few xp instances (even with bonus) you will hit walls. Are you doing challenge logs? Company logs? Hunting logs? Beast man quest? If so you should be fine. Note the Challenge log grows and gives more xp as you level up by the way. Do regional / Company leves while traveling or waiting in queue. An alternative is just todo max out your level in dungeon runs, usually 2-4 will clear before level sync cap if from the start,

The whole interrupting your story so that you can grind out 70% of your level to get to the next story quest is really annoying. Especially at my level since the whole main story quest to organise a feast while I have to gather information on a primal makes me feel like it's a standard fetch quest and currently not my favorite part of the main story. Maybe I am too initiated in the story and feel like my character would feel in the world "annoyed" But still.

Edit: Sorry this was posted before I saw the replies.

I am guessing that the endgame policies are implemented in the beginning in this game. As a new player doing every side thing you can to just progress the story feels very strange.

Doesn't sound right at all tbh. o.O I was always majorly over-leveled for the main story. I hit level 52 before getting to level 45 in main story LOL. Though I probably logged more hours than that, so maybe impatience is making it feel like you're grinding more than you really are?

Have you been doing your levelling and trial roulette/guildhests for the EXP boost every day? It sounds like you just need a few roulettes between story quests, Side Quests I find aren't great for EXP, they're more useful for gear/food/money rewards.

    Anyway, good luck.

Edit: Also dungeons are your best friend. Hours of fate grinding, you can get the same amount of EXP by running a dungeon near your level twice. tbh I've never had longer than a 45 minute wait (that was during slow times), but the average is around 10 minutes. Queue up and go level a gatherer while you wait for it to pop or something. It's how the rest of us deal with it lol.

If you are doing all (or at least most) of the side quests you should not have much trouble with being under-leveled for the MSQ. Sounds like you are doing something unusual.
When I have been leveling I have never had problems with being under-leveled for the MSQ - except for a short stretch just before level 50.

Note that side-quests should preferably be done when they are close to your level. If you out-level them by too much you get less XP for them.

Just doing the MSQ won't give nearly enough XP though - you need to do other stuff as well. Those can be FATEs, dungeons, sidequests or whatever - but you do need to do some of them.

No I am not doing roulettes as they take too much time to que up as a dps. I am not doing hunting logs and challenges since they bore me to no end. These things are side things. Things you do when you don't want to quest around or when you are done at max level in my opinion. And the whole thing about levequests and the other side things it is just too much to stay on top of as a new player. I kind of feel that you should not be given a level wall and restriction so that you can do the other things and feel mandatory. The whole freedom is gone at that point.
