Can I get my house back?

I forgot to log back on for a while as I was busy with work and other IRL issues and I did log back in-game a few days ago and now I've lost my house it seems! I checked the date on the e-mail that mentions a 10-day notice and it was issued on Feb. 25th and todat's Mar. 6th so that's 9 days right?

A person has taken the spot but their names in red, but when I talk to the NPC it seems to give me back my Gil from before I used it to purchase the place.

I'm still a little confused and I WISHED in-game you get mail to tell you about your house instead of e-mail address at times.

Regardless can I get my house back or did I lose it? I have no more inventory space left and I liked my small house. I really wished it as instances instead for housing at times.

If someone already bought that land, I'm afraid you've lost it.

There is an in-game notification under timers. But if you forgot to log in while busy with work and other IRL issues, then the in-game notification wouldn't have helped so email in those situations is the best.

I don't usually check my e-mails that much.

Regardless all that hard work saving up for a house and adding ALL of the furniture for my house, including very hard to make Gaurda chair, I lost it all due to not checking the house. I really dislike this system. I have no room to retrieve my items AND I lost those Seasonal Furniture to boot.

Why did the FFXIV make housing like this? I guess I can get an apartment, but it won't be the same. I guess I can wait for the new housing area, but then what happens if I'm on vacation for more than 45 days? This was a poorly thought out system.

Here's how the system works. If your house was just auto-demolished then you still have 35 days to collect any furniture and gil from the resident caretaker npc that doesn't explode on removal.

45 day vacation? Can one of your butlers log in for you? I kid! As of now, if you don't walk into the house for 45 days you will lose it again. That's not an unreasonable amount of time to expect someone to sign in and step into the house when it's a limited resource. If you need those long periods of time where you don't sign in, apartments would be your best choice as the timer doesn't affect them.

But not ALL furniture can be retrieved, right? It mentions only some Indoor and Outdoor ones you can. Sigh... where do I go to get Apartments? I'll miss my house and decorations I've gotten from everywhere in it, but I hate the timer system.

Also why are some names in red when I look up Wards?

    1. There's an apartment building in every ward/subdivision. There should be a teleport to The Topmast (Mist), Lily Hills (Lavender Beds) or The Sultana's Breath (Goblet). Go inside the building and talk to the npcs to purchase one. There's only 90 apartments per building, so if the one you're checking on is full then just head over to another ward (or try the subdivision).
    2. Only furniture that isn't the kind that is destroyed on removal (for example food items can't be picked back up) can be retrieved from the npc.
    3. The houses labeled in red aren't open to guest access. They'll also show up as yellow house icons on the map.

Thank you. I can decorate the Apartment like the house, right? Or is that even more limited?

Honestly I'm more afraid of buying a house in 4.0 if this system is still in place. They should've separate it into a marketing place after entering the ward and then another spot as an instance for players to go visit their houses and such. Or give us the ability to extend the timer as long as we can by paying with Gil (got to have some uses for it in-game).

I like owning my own place, but losing it because I didn't visited once within 45 days... it's too short and I have other things to do. Honestly what's the best housing system out there for all MMO's?

Yes, I believe there's a 50 item limit for the apartments however and no outdoor space. You're also limited to growing things in flower pots which lack the ability to cross for different seeds. The expansion is supposed to double the item limit across all housing.

There's a variety people like. Wildstar was one of my favorites because you had your own private house on a hover island, a huge item limit and absolute control over item placement/size/angle. The house doesn't get destroyed, but you have to keep up on reactivating certain features of your plot (for visitors). If the gameplay itself hadn't killed my hands and been more enjoyable I probably would have stuck with it. The crafting system on it was a bit of a messy rng dartboard too which was frustrating. I think most of the other mmos I've tried added housing after I had left.
