Severe Input Lag/Latency Problems

I am on Masamune server and on PS4 Pro.

I started the game back up recently and have been having crazy input lag either that or the animation is lagging? No other online games are lagging for me , just 14. For example: I'll use a spell and it takes longer for the animation to go off either from me or the mobs move . The Global Cooldown Counter will say I'm good to do another move and I go to do it , but it interrupts me like theres still an action being played out.

Also when I use the teleport crystals in town or talk to repair NPC it takes several seconds for the screen to pop up, when before it would be instant

This is usually a symptom of a network problem. Since SE's servers are in Canada, your network data has a travel a bit further than in other games with closer servers... and certain ISPs (Like Comcast) have been a bit notorious for causing problems. Other things you can check, make sure nothing on your network has big downloads going, has been infected with a virus that might be using a lot of the network, etc. If you're using wifi, ensure there's no interference (but if other online games are working fine there probably isn't).

But pretty much for this you want to be looking at network stuff.

Thanks for the advice , but , Every other game I play on PS4 and things I do on PC are fine .It's just ff14 for some reason . I never had issues before but do you think transferring to NA would fix it ? I'm in US but I've been on JPN servers since launch of Realm Reborn and never had this kind of problem before .

The other games you play probably don't have their servers on the other side of the Pacific. On a computer, open Windows command line and type: tracert 124.150.157.156

That'll do a traceroute from your home to the Mana datacenter in Japan, where Masamune is located. Post the results of the traceroute here, it'll help identify the problem.

Note that if it is a problem with the Internet routing between you and the datacenter, there's very little that can actually be done to "fix" it, except perhaps using a VPN service to shorten/optimize the route. Not sure how that would work with a PS4, though. Basically, Square Enix doesn't control the Internet and will refer you to your ISP, who will either blame Square Enix's servers or Level3 or whoever else is providing the actual network infrastructure involved. In your particular case, since you're playing on the JP datacenter, I'd suggest just moving to an NA server.

Interestingly, I have fewer connection problems playing FFXI than I do FFXIV. I'm in the middle of the US. FFXI's servers are in Japan. FFXIV's servers are in Canada. And it's FFXIV that routinely causes me problems.

I have had issues as well and actually reside in Canada, i play on PS4 Pro as well.
It really has been messing up my timing on blm and when i PVP as Nin, yeah....
My friend that lives in the US also has had issues so i think it is datacenter issue, possibly?

..that's a even longer way to go than just canada, much longer. Even if you didn't have issues before... it's very possible the route your traffic is taking has changed.

seekified's suggestion is good. If you really want to play on a JP server for language practice or whatnot, there are gaming VPN services designed to help you get around issues like this you could try. They have free trials generally, but do cost money...

Well for some reason it's fixed for now . :/ Just tried it works smooth as butter again . Didn't change anything lol. Must have been bad connection issues for few days . Thanks for help guys . I have good Free Company I'm in on JPN server so why didn't want to transfer . Weird I almost never have lag issues on JPN server though XD. Maybe just get lucky lol.

There might be something to this. I'm experiencing the same issue as of this morning. Nothing else in my home that runs off of internet is lagging or different in any way (i pay an obnoxious amount for my internet). As of this morning there is about a 5 sec delay with npc's and I'm getting booted every 10 min or so. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my internet or computer. There is an SE administered forum for this where you have to finger your internet company first and post your reference numbers.
