    Treasure Chest consideration for raids/dungeons/trials in light of new DPS jobs

    A Realm Reborn

    Only pertains to Weapons

    DPS: DRG, MNK, BLM, BRD, NIN, SMN
    Healer: WHM, SCH
    Tank: PLD, WAR


    When treasure was awarded from a chest there 1/10 (10%) chance of the loot being a job you're currently on.

    Heavensward:

    DPS: DRG, MNK, BLM, BRD, NIN, SMN, MCH
    Healer: WHM, SCH, AST
    Tank: PLD, WAR, DRK

    When treasure was awarded from a chest there is 1/13 (7%) chance of being a piece for a job you're currently on.

    Stormblood
    DPS: DRG, MNK, BLM, BRD, NIN, SMN, MCH, RDM, SAM
    Healer: WHM, SCH, AST
    Tank: PLD, WAR, DRK

    When treasure was awarded from a chest there is 1/13 (6%) chance of being a piece for a job you're currently on.

    I think moving forward, since there is way more DPS than healers or tanks, chests from Trials/Raids should have 1) DPS piece AND 2) a Healer/Tank. So when doing an EX primal in 4.0, 2 chests should spawn, one with a pool that only contains a healer/tank Arm, and the other chest with a DPS arm, considering there are 3x as many DPS jobs as healers or tanks, I think this is fair.

    Would mean the healer/tank chest would have a 1/6 chance of spawning a piece for your job, and the DPS chest would have a 1/9 chance of spawning a piece for your job. This is better than a universal 1/15 chance (only to inflate further as more jobs are added, thus slimming your odds of getting a piece for your job)

    So .. tanks and healers get geared up first and stop running the instances, while DPS are left with incomplete gearsets?

    But there are like 9 DPS jobs, 3 tanks, 3 healers, but 4 DPS in a party but 2 each of healer, tank. So basically chances are that weapons dropped in a chest will be a DPS weapon. As they add more jobs, the % chance of it being a weapon for your job decreases yet the number of items dropped remains the same. 1/10 in ARR, 1/13 in HW, 1/15 in SB.

    How about gear only drops for the jobs currently in the party?

    So if say for example,

    PLD, WHM, SAM, RDM are the current party set up so only PLD, WHM, SAM,RDM gear/weapons will drop.

    More DPS jobs dose not mean more DPS in game, just more choice of what DPS you want to be.

    Sure at release your gonna get alot of SAM/RDM but after a month people will go back to there mains. I'd aint maining RDM or SAM purely because I'm a tank at heart.

    Yeah SE looked at the history when HW came out and people who play tanks stuck with tanking, healers stayed healers, and dps stayed dps. Not much is gonna change.

    I get this concern but I think a better solution would be either only drop gear that can be used by the group, or to drop more than 1 piece with no class restriction.

    Though something just occured to me - SAM and RDM are sharing gear already in the game, striking and casting respectively, so I don't think anything is actually going to change much?

    While this is a good idea, it also stops the ability for some players to switch jobs around. Something my raid likes to do once we have geared our main classes. Makes it a bit more fun.

    But I woudn't be against this system.
