I don't think SAM has neither cast bar nor animation lock (unless you count cast bar as animation lock)
By what they said, you charge a skill by holding the button, and release it whenever you want, but you need to manually time it to get the most damage (sort of how combos are with drg = if you do a combo skill without prev skill, you do crap damage)

I... didn't get that at all from what they said. I'm not sure where you got the "button holding" bit, but I don't recall hearing that at all. You chain certain skills to charge your weapon then you use that charge to release an attack. Similar to stacks, but I think works a little more like Mudras where the exact combination you used to lead up to the final attack changes what it does. That's my theory, at least and I don't think that button holding will cone into play.

Charging up sounds better than casting - as long as only caster get cast bars - yes even for MCH

they didn't mention "holding" but that's what i'm guessing - since in the video we can see him charging a skill - so i'm guessing you're holding down the button, or it's 2-click skill, where you choose timing to release it to cause maximum damage, as the glow flare.
So i don't think it's a cast bar, because even if you release it to soon or late, it will still go off for some minor damage and/or loosing out on any debuff/buff.

well charging will be a bit more difficult to play i think, because you need to pay attention to timing, and what's going on around you, what boss is casting, etc.
so there will be many lolsam that will miss dodging stuff, and die - let's not ask for lolbrd/mch too

I think that's just really part of the animation. I don't think that they would require us to hold down a button like that for combat... but who really knows at this point?
