[Bug] Target lock overrides Legacy movement style

    Frequency: all the time
(snipping most of template because of multiple users/platforms)

    Steps:
    1. Choose Legacy control type
    2. Lock on a target
    3. Move backwards while locked
    4. Character backpedals slowly according to Standard, NOT the selected Legacy control

I brought in a few new players recently and that was the biggest complaint I got from them - target lock is great, but they lose the mobility to dodge things (especially the face-away skills), even when using the Legacy control type.

Thanks for any help, I would start using it myself if that got fixed - target lock has a great epic camera angle/feeling to it

So don't use target lock, if you don't wish to be locked into a single target and constantly facing it?

I would way it works as intended.
Target lock makes your Char always face the target.

Thank you for your helpful comments.

I would think that target lock has never been about facing the enemy full frontal but about not losing sight of it - every other Square game with Lock-On mechanic follows the not-lose-sight-of logic.

They find it is immensely helpful to use it, especially because camera handling with the other stick is very difficult for them (not everyone who picks up XIV is a gamer with experience).
Locking onto an enemy allows more finger and focus freedom which is appreciated by beginners in the learning curve.

The express purpose of lock-on is to face your target. Until quite recently, characters would stop auto-attacking if not facing their target, resulting in a DPS loss when moving around without lock-on. It was changed a few months ago so that everyone will now auto-attack as long as you're in range of your target.

For this reason, I've used lock-on a lot, and it's become muscle memory to quickly switch lock-on off and on as needed when moving around. If I quickly need to get away from something, I'll just disable lock-on and run, and then enable lock-on again when I'm back within range of my target.
