Bah! Back in my day, we had to play MMOs the way they were intended! We marched our characters 15 miles through the snow just to grind a dungeon, and we liked it! You kids and your instant gratification don't know vidya games!

Which is mostly true, until you mix in those that have no desire to learn, know better but want to RP their character... even in dungeons.. without their friends/FC, and those that expect the game to hand them the answers. But yes, until everything is unlocked you won't know what you're dealing with.My take on the job potion is, I don't think anybody truly learns their job until they have their skill set completely unlocked. The faster you unlock your skills, the faster you can start learning your job properly. Not to mention jump potions are a godsend to people with alts. I can't wait for jump potions to be available.
Oh here we go again......Do you really think levelling 1-60 teaches you your class in potd or in FATES? Do you think we should get the new classes at level 1 instead of 50? Do you think we should of got the HW jobs at 30?
Cause none of them taught me how to play my class. Reading my skills, looking up guides, talking to players and doing research taught me how to play my class.
So come the expansion all these people against the jump potions, should not bother to level the new SB jobs cause you wont have a clue.
They do it's called a glowing box around their skill. If no glowing box read above.lol, i think having to walk 15 mins to that dungon, then dying there, then losing your exp, then doing the walk all over again, did some encoruging to say the least in infulcing people how to play properly. There is no gates in ffxiv that prevent such a thing, so someone rush leveling and being clueless would be no different then a jump potion.
My only wish is that they have some in game gate tutorial that makes you pass it to advice after learning the basic idea of proper rotations. It does not have to be super fast reaction time or anything to strict, but right now it is too lenient.
If someone has no desire to learn it wont matter if the job starts at 1 or 100 they will still be s**t.

They need to get rid of the MSQ at least. It is so dumb I'm lvl 50 and can't go into heavensword cause I have to finish 100 quest. I personally don't care if they allow people to buy a potion. I would never use it but people should have the option. Especially with the dumb MSQ.
No the hundred 50 quests need to stay to teach you how to play at 51 :SThey need to get rid of the MSQ at least. Those are some really good points that make me feel a lot better about level jump potions being added. My only remaining concern is the Achievements. I don't want to see people with 1 hour of playtime running around with the Grandmaster of War title, or the like. Some of the common counter-arguments to your concerns would be:
- If/when these are added, they will increase your level to a maximum of ten levels under the existing cap. Players would have those remaining ten levels in order to learn their job, and the later levels are far more reflective of how the job actually plays than lower levels, when you're still missing the majority of your job's abilities.
- Players can currently level entirely through FATEs, which can very easily allow them to get all the way to the cap (rather than 10 levels below it) without ever learning correct rotations, how to play, etc.
- Players who care about their performance are going to do the necessary research to learn how to play their jobs at the level cap regardless of how they leveled. Conversely, players who do not are not going to do the necessary research, regardless of how they leveled.
- Players can currently jump into Palace of the Dead an immediately play a job at 60. Should this also be prevented, on the basis that they may not know how to play the job correctly? Conversely, can this be taken as evidence that players need not have leveled a job all the way to the cap (regardless of method) to be capable of playing it at an acceptable level?
lmao. True
