Eorzea is slightly-broken Africa, but being the melting-pot Vanilla game world, the culture doesn't quite match up as well as the others.

Let me extend that metaphor further with my personal pet theory: Eorzea is the cradle of all intelligent life in Hydaelyn, the way Africa is the cradle of humanity on Earth.

At the very least, Eorzea would be the "source" of all life in Hydaelyn, being as it is the wellspring of the planet's aether. I like to think of Lake Silvertear as this planet's equivalent of Lake Victoria, one of Earth's largest freshwater lakes.

Which makes me wonder how ecosytems change, in lands so far away from Eorzea. We know that foreigners to Eorzea experience aether sickness when they first arrive to the realm, as their bodies take time to adjust to the higher concentrations of aether in the environment. While the breaking of the seal of Silvertear may well have caused vast amounts of aether to spill over, into lands as far away as Hingashi, it would still be common sense to assume that the levels of aether in these realms would be lower than those of Eorzea.

How does that affect magic, let alone all the fantastical beasts and beast tribes that roam these parts of the world?

Only mistake I can see right now, is that you put Corvos instead of Dorvos.

The one thing I'd like to know is the map's age.

Well, the map does feature the same set of sponsorship icons as on the Eorzean map we all know. I wouldn't expect the team to include that unless it was from the same cartographic expedition.

EDIT: I found a mistake by myself. "Crown" instead of "Drown" ^^. But its definitely "Koshu" not "Roshu" (in my opinion).

Going to throw up my own translation of the map. I left the original Eorzean text alone because there’s a few place names I just can’t get a sure translation of even after squinting through a magnifying glass for four hours. I marked unsure translations with (?). “??? Sea” in northwestern Othard was the only place I just couldn’t make heads or tails of. My best guess was “-iprou Sea” but I didn’t feel confident enough to put it on the map. At this point I figure I’ll have to wait for my physical CE map to get here to take another stab at the unsure place names.

Some differences I saw between mine and the other maps posted here:
>I read "Naaxia" instead of "Nacxia" but I'm not sure which is right. It doesn't look like a C under my magnifying glass but it's hard to tell.
>"Daitenz" vs "Daitenzan," again not sure which is right but I can't make out any text after the Z that I could assuredly differentiate between artistic coastline wave drawings. I can kinda see what might look like an N, but it could also be waves?

"Naaxia" sounds a bit more correct to me. But I think "Daitenzan" is also right (because it sounds more asian-like than "Daitenz") ^^.

I think it's supposed to be "Corvos" for The Anchorite one, and "Dorvos" for the Narrow one, instead of Gorvos for both....
You can compared it to the C, D, and G in Coerthas, Mor Dhona, and Gridania respectively...

Also, i think you're correct on placing Rabanastre there on southern Othard, cause Koji Fox kind of hinted that Rabanastre is in Othard and that's the only area in Othard still covered in clouds...
For Dalmasca, it should be around the land bridge connecting Ilsabard and Othard, cause, again, that's what Koji Fox hinted lol...

It's definitely Daitenzan, looking at the in game map.
It's also Nagxia, rather than Naaxia, or Nacxia. Zooming in on the world map, it's pretty clear.
I'm pretty sure it's Ryakgyr Peninsula rather than Hyakgyr. It's very difficult to make out the later letters, but I'm fairly confident it's an R.
